If you're unemployed, handing out resumes should be your full-time job.

The majority of mid- to senior-level positions are filled through networking, so contact absolutely everyone you know in addition to recruiters who are in a position to hire you or share insights.

Networking can include personal business contacts, people you've worked for or who worked for you or Vendors and sales representatives you've dealt with in the past five years.

With a solid resume in hand you'll greatly increase your odds of earning a closer look and getting that interview.

We've been trusted by Councils for 33 years and there's no better way to prove it then show some of our first issues we ever produced way back in 1988! That's why we're starting #WaybackWednesday or #ThenVsNow!

Balranald Shire put in an ad in Issue 3 of the JD back in February 1988, and continue to use the #LittleGreenBook to this day as we've just placed their ad for the Director Corporate and Community Development position in the latest issue! Check our link in bio or go to http://ow.ly/JcSL30k44jY for more details.

How long have you been reading the Directory? We'd love to hear your story so let us know!

'WHEN DO WE WANT IT?' - 'NOW!'

This is the catch cry of Millennials. The first generation raised on a societal diet of internet, YouTube stardom, reality TV, social media, fast food, drive through service, home delivery, and high tech gaming.

Far from being perceived negatively because of their petulance for quickness, The Millennial Generation – generation of, in essence, speed – have the capacity to bring great efficiency and problem-solving skills for a modern world to your workplace.

From researching a project to hunting down the area’s best Mexican restaurant for the staff Christmas party, most Millennials carry the capacity to swiftly think on their feet. A swipe on the smartphone, a glance at Google, or a follow on Facebook and anything is possible. Millennials are such valuable assets to a well-rounded workplace environment. They bring freshness, invigorating perspective, cultural relevance, exciting ideas and new techniques to even the driest occupation.

Have you considered employing someone with youthful millenial exhuberance on their side for your up and coming roles? If you are a Council keen to embrace a more progressive future, then employment of the speed empowered generation is imperative.

Embrace change in your workplace and watch it zap into life!
