It was such a privilege to visit Kruger National Park and witness up close the majestic beauty of the land and animals in their natural habitat. There are a few paved roads in the park but mostly we explored it on bumpy dirt roads driving past elephants, giraffes, hippos and many more animals and birds. Thanks to our wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide Clive from Wildlife Safaris we saw the big five (elephant, cape buffalo, rhinoceros, lion and leopard). As you will see from the photos we were very close to these wild animals in an open truck. These photos were all taken with an 85mm lens. So, yes, we were very close. Each day we drove hours searching for animals, and you never knew what was going to unfold as you turned down a dirt road. My favorite takeaways were the long drives through the savanna which were very zen and seeing the different animals interact with each other in their natural environment.

If we leave here without getting run over it will be a successful trip, were my first thoughts after arriving in Ho Chi Minh City.
The former town of Saigon is not for the faint of heart. While dodging locals using the sidewalk as an express lane on their motor bikes, you also need to maneuver the pop up shops and restaurants on the sidewalk and people napping. Which leaves very little room for pedestrians. The controlled chaos added to the vibe of this hot and rainy city where crossing the street is a an olympic sport.

Also, the local fashion is just as bold as the local spicy food. The food and coffee are worthy of a visit to this city that does not have many must see museums and cultural places. Ho Chi Minh is a city best explored by drinking and eating local food and then engaging in the favorite pastime…taking a nap.

After seeing a promotional ad for Slovenia, I wanted to go. I mean, who does not want to visit a country with LOVE in its name?!

Visiting Lake Bled and Ljubljana during a quick day trip, I soon realized that visiting in July does not mean it will be warm! Encumbered by a jacket and scarf during a rainy morning to Lake Bled did not dampen the beauty of the lake.

Verona, Italy, a city made famous by William Shakespeare is a wonderful place to explore Roman ruins, stand on Juliet's balcony or just sit in a cafe and let the entertainment come to you. Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon is the largest wadi (valley) in Jordan. This wadi came to fame starting with being the movie location for Lawrence of Arabia and most recently The Martian and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Many other sci-fi movies have also been filmed in this area because it looks unlike anything else on earth. The hours pass quickly as you sail through the sea of red sand on the back of a pick up truck enjoying the expansive quiet surroundings and the occasional camel or bedouin crossing your path. A camel ride from local bedouins is a must activity along with drinking bedouin whisky (strong tea full of sugar). The magical lost city of Petra is carved out of the area’s rose-colored stone. The long, beautiful, narrow passageway that leads people to the main sanctuary of Petra opens up and suddenly before you stands the Treasury. The suspense and then the sheer awe of the Treasury is why the place has been named one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and chosen by Smithsonian Magazine as one of the “28 Places to See Before You Die.” Touring around the rest of the park is an all day journey. Many hiking routes are quiet strenuous. One hike is over 900 uneven steps to see the Monastery, another behemoth structure. The local bedouins, many still living in Petra's caves, are constanly asking if you would like to make the trip easier by taking a camel or donkey on the journey. Just make sure your life insurance policy is up to date. Click on the photo below to see more of the sights of Petra. #Jordan#Petra#Nikon#Camels

A "trip of a lifetime" has become cliche’ but when I look back at my trip to Israel that is one of the first phrases that pops into my head. The next phrase, an "experience of a lifetime." I am just going to let the photos tell the story.

Beijing is a city full of cultural history, parks and gardens, palaces and temples. The city is very modern and western but stray down a random street you will find the old Beijing customs and culture still thriving. Experiencing the Great Wall, Temple of Heaven and The Forbidden Palace were like stepping into a Hollywood blockbuster movie that did not disappoint. #China#Beijing#Nikon#Photography#Travel
