Wood Burning 101: Get started making beautiful designs with this comprehensive tutorial.
Hello everyone! This tutorial will give you a nice compilation of techniques and tricks for wood burning in any level of detail. As someone who loves drawing, I was fascinated by how easily I could transfer those skills into wood and finally make 3D art. Since now I have some experience in the subject, it's time to teach whatever I can! This instructable was made for the Burn It! contest, since it will talk about burning 100% of the time. Let's get...

Giant 555 Footstool: A project to commemorate 45 years of simplifying circuit design.
Since the creation of integrated circuits, there has not been any circuit more useful, more iconic, than the 555 timer created by Hans R. Camenzind. This simple circuit named after it's 3 parallel 5k ohm resistors, has enabled engineers and hobbyist alike to build simple and complex circuits since 1971. To commemorate 45 years of simplifying circuit design, I wanted to build something that embodied my geeky electronic side while getting me out to...

Make a Ring with Recycled CDs: CDs are coming back in a whole new way.
In this tutorial I will show you a quick and easy way to make a ring with recycled CDs!You can use any CDs for this (like old games or scratched music disks). In this Instructable I'll be using old data disks that I had lying around. The shaping and polishing process I describe could be used on a ring made with any plastic, but I used it on a ring made of CDs as I thought they'd make an interesting material. I hope you find this useful and experim...

DIY Silk Summer Dress: From inspiration to sketch to sumer style.
~This is a pretty advanced project. There. You have been warned!~ Every once in a while, I see some beautiful fabric in a store that I have absolutely no idea what to do with. I buy it anyway. It sits there, staring me in the face, for ages, making me wonder why I got it in the first place. Then, you finally figure out what to do with it. This is the story of what I did with a yard and a half of silk that was sitting in my basement for around thr...

Easily Pour Paint from Small Cans: Minimize spills and reuse a plastic bottle.
You can find all posts related to this project in full here on my blog.We all know what a pain it is to pour paint out. I tried to google to see if there was some sort of life hack for this but found none so I made my own. I honestly don't even know why we still use cans shaped like they are. I get not using plastic because the metal is probably easier to recycle and more resistant (plus it keeps out light), but surely they could add better lids...

Perfectly Split Firewood: It's almost sit-around-the-fire season.
Real men don't use AXE... Real men use axes. To open beer bottles, clean buffalo skin, chop vegetables, shave (well, actually not), make beer mugs, repair computers and cell-phones (that's how I used to do it) and solve traffic problems in a civilized way. Axes are very useful, in daily life. I discovered recently that you can also use them to make firewood. Handy, when you're an old school guy like me who uses wood to warm the living room, when ...
