Dan Newman implemented his own converter of vector objects to OpenSCAD files which supports pretty much all kinds of shapes (and only requires outlining text iobjects).

if you are into 3D printing (Hey, +Ponoko :)) you surely know how helpful it is to go directly from 2D to 3D.

Make sure you grab v2 which fixes a few things here and there (most importatly, it supports combined paths).

Fantastic. I always found moving from Inkscape to OpenSCAD to be hard and temperamental. Looks like this really simplifies the process.
Glad to see someone wrote a working one, life got busy and I never got mine past doing just paths.
