The Tambopata – Candamo Reserve near Puerto Maldonado can be visited all year long and has some of the largest clay licks in the world, which attract hundreds of tropical birds at a time each morning. Tambopata is so diverse that a person can walk a mile along the rainforest without encountering two trees of the same species!

Puno Preparing UNESCO Application for Virgen de Candelaria Festival
Each February, the little city of Puno alongside Lake Titicaca throw’s one of South America's most spectacular festivals in honor of its patron saint Mamacha Carmen, the Virgen de Candelaria Festival. The city is currently preparing its UNESCO application for “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” status for the festival.
