Join us for Syria: A Conflict Explored, a season of exhibitions and events reflecting upon the ongoing conflict in Syria, opening on 27 April. Syria: A Conflict Explored will include the first UK exhibition of photographs by prize-winning photographer Sergey Ponomarev, addressing the consequences of the Syria conflict. This exhibition will sit alongside Syria: Story of a Conflict, an intimate display exploring the origins, escalations and impact of the Syria conflict through objects and video. Syria: A Conflict Explored will also present an immersive events programme, including an artist residency and collaborations with award-winning creative collective Anagram, as well as storytelling interventions exploring subjects such as information and misinformation.

Syria: A Conflict Explored is the first season in our new Conflict Now strand, launched to coincide with our centenary year. 100 years on from IWM’s establishment during the First World War, we remain as relevant today as we were in 1917, responding to the world in which we all live and the experiences of people who are experiencing conflict now.
