The concept of community-building is normally associated with events such as local arts festivals or farmer's markets. Building a community on social media to help strengthen your company's brand and drive real business results can sometimes get overlooked. Far too many brands have become impatient and want overnight results on social media. Building a community on social media is the furthest from their mind. Instead they chase vanity metrics such as number of likes and followers which are rendered absolutely meaningless without the community to support the brand. Social media marketing is and will always be a long-term strategy. Building a brand to be a thought leader takes time. A brand must dedicate the necessary time and resources to build an engaged and sustainable social media community.
