Use this all-natural bug spray recipe to repel pests!

Now that warm weather is here, mosquitoes, ticks, and other biting bugs are more active. Unfortunately, a lot of common bug repellents can cause issues for humans. The most dangerous repellents are ones that contain DEET. Research studies have shown that it is linked to brain cell damage that can cause behavioral changes.

Fortunately, you can avoid these worrying chemicals by making your own bug spray. Essential oils can repel bugs and mask human scents that attract bugs. The most effective oils are citronella, eucalyptus, and tea tree oil. Lemongrass, rosemary, mint, and lavender also work well.

If you want to be able to enjoy the outdoors without covering your body in poisonous chemicals, follow this recipe:

In a medium bowl, combine 1/2 cup of witch hazel, 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar, and 40 drops essential oils combined or 6 to 7 drops of each (eucalyptus, lemongrass, citronella, tea tree and rosemary).

Place the mixture in an 8-ounce spray bottle made of glass and spray over any area of the body that bugs can bite. Just be sure to avoid getting it in your eyes or mouth.
