See how old coffee grounds can clean the garbage disposal.

Don't throw out those used coffee grounds just yet! After brewing the morning coffee, save the leftover grounds to make handy tabs for freshening the garbage disposal.

First, let the used coffee grounds dry. Spread them out on a tray until the moisture has evaporated.

Next, for every 1 cup of grounds used, mix in ¾ cup of Epsom salt and ½ cup of baking soda. After the dry ingredients are combined, slowly stir in 3 tablespoons of white vinegar. If necessary, add a splash more of vinegar so the mixture will hold together.

Use a cookie scoop to place balls of the mixture on a tray lined with parchment paper. Stick the tray in the freezer until the balls are set. Then transfer the finished tabs to a zip-top bag in the freezer for storage.

Now, whenever the garbage disposal needs a freshness boost, turn it on and toss in one or two tabs. Finally, run cold water down the drain or pour in 1 cup of vinegar.
