Discover these benefits of vitamin C serum for your face.

When your skin is making you look older than you really are, vitamin C serum may be a solution. It features ascorbic acid, which is a powerful anti-aging vitamin.

The ascorbic acid works as an antioxidant, which helps reverse oxidation in your skin, which is the process that causes you to develop an uneven skin tone and fine lines that make you look older.

Another benefit of vitamin C serum comes from its ability to stimulate collagen production, which is the material that provides support for your skin's connective tissue. Collagen helps your face to look fuller like it did when you were younger.

It also promotes the healing of small wounds and blemishes. The use of vitamin C serum directly on your face can help heal a scratch or an acne scar and may even erase scars from previous acne outbreaks.

Visit iHerb to check out the variety of Vitamin C serums as well as other facial serums that we carry.

Good sleep can improve memory and learning capabilities.

Scientists have learned what parents have known for generations: People need a good night’s sleep to be at their best.

The Association for Psychological Science published a study that demonstrated that interspersing study sessions with sleep helped people both learn more quickly and remember material longer.

During the study, French-speaking volunteers were tested on how well they had learned Swahili words and then tested again 12 hours later. The scientists found that the group that slept before retesting remembered more words and finished the tests more quickly than the group that had remained awake between tests.

British researchers found that people cannot effectively apply new knowledge until they sleep on it first. The results of the study led the researchers to conclude that long-term learning requires brain functions that only take place during sleep.

In a similar vein, a Harvard study conducted in 2010 indicates that dreams may help people’s memory and performance, especially with recently learned material. During the study, volunteers had to navigate a 3D maze. The volunteers who took naps before attempting the maze a second time performed better than the ones who stayed awake, and the volunteers who dreamed about the maze performed better than everybody else.

Many studies have demonstrated the benefits of naps. Even short naps of just six minutes can improve memory while longer naps also relieve fatigue and improve performance.

Staying physically fit can improve cognitive function.

The January 2017 issue of the science journal “Cortex” describes a study that was conducted by researchers at the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) that found that physically fit adults did better on memory tests than those who are less in shape.

The researchers had two groups of volunteers walk or jog on a treadmill. The volunteers were either young adults (18-31) or older adults (55-74). The researchers measured the participants’ VO2, or ratio, of oxygen to carbon dioxide. Measuring VO2 is a common way of assessing someone’s cardiorespiratory fitness.

Afterward, the scientists used the latest brain-imaging technology to measure the activity in the volunteers’ brains while they took memory tests. The more physically fit volunteers showed more brain activity while they were learning.

The brain activity in older people in good physical shape resembled that of the younger volunteers more than their less-fit contemporaries. This increased brain activity suggests that physical fitness may prevent cognitive decline in older adults.

The older volunteers who are fit also displayed more brain activity in certain areas than did out-of-shape younger volunteers. This finding suggests that being physically fit may also increase the brain’s plasticity.

In other words, fitness increases the chances of certain parts of the brain compensating for the regions that no longer work properly, preventing memory loss and maybe even slowing down the development of dementias.

Learn about two benefits of freshly made yerba mate tea.

The yerba mate plant is native to South America and has been used for thousands of years to make a stimulating hot beverage. Yerba mate tea is made from the dried leaves of the plant and can be a loose-leaf tea or tea prepared in bags.

One of the leading benefits of drinking one to two cups of hot yerba mate tea every day comes from its high level of antioxidants. This beverage contains about 90 percent more antioxidants than a cup of green tea. The antioxidants promote immune system health and reduce the effects of aging.

Another benefit of drinking yerba mate tea is increased physical and mental endurance. You may find that you can exercise or stay active for longer periods of time after drinking yerba mate tea.

Your mental clarity and focus may also improve. You may find that it is easier to concentrate on work or stay focused while reading a book or working on an intense project for work or school while consuming yerba mate tea.

iHerb has over 20 Yerba Mate Teas to choose from.

Give your baby a workout to create a strong bond.

It's important to start doing exercises with your baby when he or she is aged 0-1 month. Give your child a rounded workout with natural exercises that also help facilitate the bonding process with mom or dad.

While lying your baby on their back, get them to grasp the forefinger of each of your hands and help them hold on with your thumbs and third fingers. Gently lift your hands up, seeing how much body weight your baby can support; however, your child’s upper body shouldn't come off the floor.

While your child is gripping your fingers, you can also help stretch his or her arms and chest area by stretching their arms up and out. Help your baby's leg development and get rid some gas by doing the bicycle while they are laying on their back.

When your child is five to six months of age, you can pull him or her up from a lying position to a sitting one. If your baby initiates movements on their own, then that's a good sign your child is ready for a bit of a workout.

You will be able to tell when your baby is ready to lie on their tummy and rest on their elbows or be supported in a standing position and stand on their tiptoes. Help increase your baby’s development while spending some one-on-one time with him or her.

Pick up some children's health products from iHerb to help contribute to your baby's health and wellness.

Discover the benefits of using nontoxic laundry detergent.

The clothes you wear touch every part of your body. If you wash them with a traditional detergent, you could be exposing yourself to toxic ingredients such as benzaldehyde, Quaternium-15, 2-Butoxyethanol, and naphthas, which are known carcinogens. Thankfully, nontoxic laundry detergents contain none of these harmful chemicals and work as well as traditional detergents at removing stains and odors.

One of the biggest differences between grocery store detergents and nontoxic products is that with the cleaners you get off store shelves, you are paying for a lot of water. Most high-quality, nontoxic, biodegradable cleaners and laundry products are highly concentrated.

Nellie's All Natural laundry detergent is a great choice if you want to use nontoxic laundry products. This brand’s products are free of formaldehyde, ammonia, phosphate, dye, and chlorine. They are safe for septic systems and biodegradable.

There are no fragrances included, which also makes them a good choice for individuals with sensitive skin. These laundry nuggets and powder products even come in environmentally friendly packaging.

Be sure to pick up a Nellie's product the next time you visit iHerb!

Elderberry provides cold, flu and immunity support.

Elderberry, also known as elder, has been used in healing for centuries. There are several species, and the black or European elder (Sambucus nigra) is the type most often used for healing. Only the flowers and berries can be used as remedies as the other parts of the plant are poisonous. The berries need to be cooked before they can be safely used since the raw berries contain a toxin related to cyanide.

Elderberry contains antioxidants called flavonoids. In fact, it contains more flavonoids and vitamin C than blueberries or goji berries.

Some studies indicate that elderberry contains anti-inflammatory properties that make it an effective treatment for upper respiratory illnesses; the elderberry can relieve nasal congestion by reducing the swelling in the sinuses and other mucous membranes. Elderberry may also have anti-cancer and antiviral properties.

Elderberry can be taken as a syrup or made into a tea. Cooked berries can be used in foods including jams, pies, and muffins. At least two medicines are made from elderberries: Sambucol, which is used to treat colds and flu, and Sinupret, which is used to treat bacterial sinusitis. The tea can relieve headaches, indigestion, and edema.

iHerb has over 70 Elderberry Products to choose from.
