Why a White Poet Should Not Be Attempting to Reclaim the "N-Word"

Both literature and visual art share a common concern: they continue to grapple with questions of inclusion and diversity, and in many ways have done a poor job of righting the long-standing wrongs of white men who have dominated the landscape since…

Is this really about "reclaiming" a word? Or is it about an extremely problematic piece of performative art that intellectualizes/trivializes racism and the academic institutions that reward such efforts? I'm sorry but the headline is detrimental to the argument; it trivializes it much like Place's work does with racism.
Of course the actual article makes this patently clear but expecting social mediates to click through is akin to white artists expecting audiences to drench themselves in the mythical nuances of their cultural, historical and racial privileges just to engage their work.
Good article though.

Open Source Software to Catalogue Cultural Heritage Before a Crisis

Cultural heritage management tends to suffer from limited funding and resources, which can make a crisis — whether natural disaster, pipeline construction, or war — that much more catastrophic for assessing what's in need of protection.

NASA Launches Design Competition to 3D Print Human Habitats for Mars

The hope is that 3D printing and the incorporation of spacecraft waste and materials from the alien world can in turn help address affordable housing on Earth.

The (Un)Changing Portrayal of White Women in 100 Years of Advertisements

The idea is so ingenious, it almost seems obvious: take advertisements and remove the text that makes them so, leaving only a string of images behind.
