Well I just had a horrible experience, but I didn't actually stay there. After trying to decide between three hotels, I chose this one. I made a reservation online through their website, and there was NO OPTION to add multiple rooms. So I reserved one, and figured I would call the next day and add TWO more rooms for my friends who were joining me for my birthday. I real alot of positive reviews about their customer service and I was so surprised they were not willing to work with me, because in less than 24 hours the rates changed and I couldn't get the same rate as what I booked online. So I confirmed with the manager Amanda, that they would rather lose my business and book zero rooms, instead of booking 3 rooms! WOW. I wonder if that is how the owner would have handled the situation. I'm bummed, and they didn't care I was planning a birthday weekend and chose their hotel over others, and I told them I would have been a first time guest. Bad first impression.

As I was Google-ing the Hotel Monaco Seattle to book our second stay this year, I happened to glance to the right of my search and was AGAST to see that the Hotel Monaco Seattle only had 3.4 stars. WHAT?!!??!!?!?!?!?! The Hotel Monaco is a lovely, fabulous, amazingly hospitable and kind establishment that my husband and I can't wait to go back to. We went to the Hotel Monaco for the first time in January of this year (2015). We were instantly greeted by a knowledgable and friendly staff, who continued to check in on how our vacation/room/experience was going throughout our 3 night stay. We very much enjoyed the complimentary wine hour, the rooms were impeccably clean, and the hotel was very modern. The coffee and hot chocolate in the morning was an added plus :) I can't wait to stay at the Hotel Monaco in Seattle again!

I've been booked for an upcoming trip to this hotel in about 2 weeks!! My wife have set this all up for the celebration of my 50th Birthday, I can't wait!! We have stayed at the Monaco in Baltimore and was very pleased at the service and amenities that was offered there. I'm very much looking forward to see how this one in Seattle will compare. Hopefully, I can review this when I get back from my stay.

The Monaco hotel openly advertises that they keep goldfish in fishbowls, this almost ensures that the fish will die a painful death! Goldfish can get to 2 feet in the proper conditions, 2 feet! This causes them to be incredibly messy fish! They produce so much ammonia that a 100% water change would be needed in their bowl DAILY in order to not kill the fish by "drowning them in their own waste" This is why fancy goldfish (in pairs, as goldfish are social animals) need at least a 40 GALLON tank, and feeder or comet goldfish do better in a large man made pond. Goldfish will also not "grow to the size of their bowl" they stunt instead, which means while the outside appearance of the fish remains the same size, the organs and spine still continue to grow. Imagine how painful that is, and imagine what terrible death that would be! But if the hotel wants to continue to keep their cute roommates in a bowl, and garuntee them a painful death, that is their decision.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very friendly and professional, the concierge was extra helpful and offered us many options for different activities to fill our days. Sadly, we missed the wine hour, but were given free passes for a glass at the restaurant. The restaurant had very good food, tasted fresh and breakfast was wonderful. We are late risers, but they accommodated our schedule nicely and without hassle. We were told by many locals that it was unseasonably hot for this time of year, so the cucumber water was a very welcome and refreshing treat whenever we entered from the outdoors. My husband even filled a water bottle with it so we had it overnight and stayed nicely hydrated. We will definitely recommend Hotel Monaco to our friends and family, as well as being very likely to stay there again if we ever return to the Seattle area. First hint: if you can get a south facing room, the view is pretty nice. Some people complained here about facing another building. The hotel is one of the shorter buildings in the neighborhood, but facing south had a more open feeling with the reflections off of the other tall buildings. Very pretty at sunrise and twilight. Second hint: if you aren't driving (and I recommend using the public transportation and taxi services, much cheaper than parking, plus parking is awful in Seattle), use their car service to anywhere that will cost $20 or more (especially to the airport). It is well worth it to have a private driver. The guys we had were really friendly and knew a lot about the city. The taxi drivers were pretty sullen and unfriendly, one wouldn't even answer a simple question about our destination. The train is another great option to get to and from the airport. It is only a couple of blocks from the station.
