Did you know Hocking College works with Rural Action to help connect school cafeterias and students with fresh, local food? It's a great program that we're proud to be a part of, and Rural Action recently announced that they have been awarded a grant to expand the program! http://ow.ly/Gc4Ns

I love Hocking College! It is my first year here. I have attended a 4 year school prior to this one. I must say, the classrooms here are much smaller. The instructors are nicer, and the workload is much easier. I feel at home here and I'm looking forward to obtaining my degree. The learning has a "hands on" feel. The buildings are close together so you never have far to go. The campus is beautiful and the buildings are kept clean. Even the bathrooms are nice! I reccomend Hocking College to anyone who feels overwhelmed attending a 4 year school. Also, Hocking has a great transfer module program, where you can transfer to a 4 year college after obtaining your associates degree. I'm glad to be here.

This school is a joke. First of all, classes here are so easy. Teachers dumb down everything, so the college can have a higher graduation rate. I have had middle school classes that were more difficult . The people here are terrible . 90% of them are either hill billys or ghetto football players . Everyone hates the foot ball players, because they are obnoxious assholes. To have the many athletic programs that it does, the school had to fire basically every good teacher they had for cheaper adjunct teachers (Thanks Betty) . The dorms here aren't terrible if you live in Downhour or North. When I lived on the seventh floor of North , the elevator broke and the school being as broke as it is couldn't fix it . So that required me for 2 months to walk all the way up and down the stairs, just to get to my room . Also understand, the food in the cafeteria is absolutely DISGUSTING. On weekends it isn't even edible . Nelsonville has very little good food either, so most days I went to Athens for food. I'm so glad I left this dump . With things going as is , this school won't be around for much longer . You will regret going to Hocking . STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL.

Was here for the recent Nelsonville Music Festival. Is a nice and cozy campus. Most of my last times near here have been while riding through on the local bike path to Athens.

Good education for a low price. Expecting expert level teaching from Hocking is something you shouldn't look forward to, but it's a great starting point for young students.

This college is awful. I went to the "Advanced Energy Institute"... what a joke. It was devoted to renewable energy, they got solar installed on the building & it didn't work for several years. The "solar instructors" couldn't figure it out. I learned more at a two week course than in the year I attended this "college". That energy institute is now funded by the natural gas industry... these should be viewed as symbols of how bad this place is. I could give dozens of examples of their corruption & ineptitude, but I won't. I now call it "the Stuebenville Rapist School".

9/07/16 - Lunch room swarming with flies. 9/12/16 - the fries were the soggiest, blandest things I have ever eaten. The fly problem persists. 9/13/16 - I'm beginning to appreciate the food here. Now when I go to Wendy's or Dairy Queen I feel as if im getting a nice gourmet meal. I also wasn't aware that french fries could be stale and hard yet soggy at the same time, Impressive. 9/14/16 - Today is hot dog day. I was fairly excited because you can't mess up a hot dog, at least I thought. As I got to the front of the line I saw that they were out of hot dogs and brats. I asked one of the staff members if she would be bringing out more hot dogs. Without saying anything she turns around and grabs a tray of brats and sets it under the glass. Now I don't have a problem with brats, I just had my heart set on a couple of juicy beef hot dogs today. So I stand and wait for a couple minutes. She turned back in a snarky voice and exclaims "if you waitin for hot dogs you gon be here a while". I was crushed. I set my plate with two buns down in disappointment walking out of the lunchroom with only a chocolate milk and a broken heart.

I worked and attended this college for a little over 2 years. I can honestly say that the corruption, lack of faculty back-up, and the amount of bullshit I dealt with just in the financial aid department alone was enough for me to never attend schooling again. They lost my credit records 2 times, I was fired from a position in the IT department for saying 'Ma'am' to my boss (who was offended because she considered it a too "Direct orientational word', orientational not being a word itself), and the fact that the union had no backbone to fight for better pay for the technicians. Many teachers I know who have moved on have told me that teaching classes there was a joke and that they gained nothing but a resume from their time there. All in all, the school isn't good unless you go for core classes or nursing, with the latter being one of the couple reasons the school manages to even stay afloat.
