I have a soft spot for the Hills Resort... I got married here. I should actually being giving it only 1 star. We keep coming back because it is a special place to us... but I feel like it's just going down the tube - and FAST! It's such a shame - such a beautiful place with SO much potential. It is just crumbling in every way - I'd like to know who they've entrusted as their maintenance person... boy oh boy - whomever that is needs tone fired. Everything is scraped, gouged, ill fitting from shoddy work, and no care taken in any area. It's dirty, outdated and unkept. The staff must rotate regularly because they have no clue how anything works. I think that even though it holds a special place in our hearts - we will stop coming. There is no care or pride in the service or premises any more. It really is too bad - because word of mouth spreads like wildfire these days and they are shooting themselves in the foot. If they made some crucial changes in staff, service, and upkeep of the facilities and guest rooms - it would probably turn things around pretty fast. If I had never been here in better times - I would never even consider staying here for the price... I wouldn't want to pay more than about $60... and even that's a reach!

was at the ranch and honestly shocked ! this place is so old and outdated( 70's) one can not imagine !!! we had cabin no.18, with a ripped sofa covers, damaged wallpapers, spiderwebs and filthy carpets all over the place. but the hit was the locker room and the swimming pool area, just dark and dirty, really horrible ! i did talk (complain) at the front desk but they did not offer any solution, just apologized and mentioned that the owner is old, not willing to investing anymore and looking for an investor.oh my g..., do not go there, they charge quite some hard $ for a stay ! we left immediately after one prepaid night, never again !!!

I had pre-booked the Cowboy Breakfast horseback riding trip followed by a massage at the spa. I was told that I would have enough time to make it to my massage after returning from the horseback riding trip. The horseback ride didn't allow me to make it to my appointment on time and I was about 10 minutes late. I waited for about 20 minutes in and around the spa lounge for someone to talk to me about my appointment. After looking around for someone, I then went down to the front desk to ask about the appointment. The masseuse was incredibly rude to me. She told me that I was really late and implied that I was lying when I said that I had been waiting for 20 minutes because she had 'been up and down the stairs and didn't see you'. I was flabbergasted by the total lack of professionalism and customer service. I was so upset by how I was treated that when they offered me another appointment time with a different masseuse I wasn't interested in re-booking. At check-out, the massage that never happened appeared on our bill. When we pointed that out to the woman at the desk she said, 'It was my understanding that another appointment was offered to you at your convenience.' She already knew in advance that there had been a problem and she didn't apologize on behalf of the Ranch for the mix-up. We told her that I wasn't interested in re-booking and told her about the rudeness of the masseuse. Still no apology was given. Not by the masseuse and not by the front desk woman. The customer service was TERRIBLE. We will never return and will never recommend this place to anyone. My advice to The Hills management is: * provide all of your staff with basic hospitality training * have staff apologize when there is a misunderstanding. I was made to feel like I had done something wrong. I did nothing wrong. I believed the booking clerk when she said that I could make it to my appointment on time after returning from the horseback trip. * Have the booking clerk communicate with the masseuse so that she knows that if someone is late it is because they were held up at another Ranch-related event.

The Hills was probably top notch in the 80'. It doesn't seem to have been updated since then. The views off the decks are AMAZING...unfortunately the decks are painted plywood and it's splintering. The food is expensive and not good (butter chicken tasted like a pre-packaged frozen entree). In the "fancy" dining room there is a gorgeous faux Tiffany lamp covered up by an old dusty plastic plant traling down from the ceiling where there is an orange extension cord hanging out of the ceiling. It wouldn't take much effort to make the place look presentable (a little de-cluttering would help). The ONLY redeeming quality about this ranch is the spa services. I had a facial that was lovely and a body wrap that was INCREDIBLE (Lisa, who did the wrap, was friendly and informative). I would almost consider going back just for the body wrap with her again. It is advertised that there is wi/fi but I have to say I couldn't connect once. This place co

having stayed at The Hills cabins for two years in a row now for a winter vacation I can confirm that the decor is somewhat outdated, and yes both cabins we've stayed in have been well-worn, but by and large it is quiet, clean, and almost everything works just fine (we had a couple power outlets that didn't cooperate). Given we've never paid more than $120 a night for a gigantic homey cabin, and given the amenities available on the property, we certainly plan to continue coming here!

I have been several times and I'm never disappointed. The 3 bedroom chalets are cheaper then what I pay for a "regular" hotel room anywhere in Alberta. Staff are always accommodating. Have hiked, horse backed, and enjoyed the spa services. Good location to take advantage of local fishing and other water activities.

This review is in regards to the restaurant only. Well, it was the worst all around dinner experience I have ever had!!!!! We were a table of 10 (6 adults, 4 kids 2 of which were under the age of six). We were only given a menu with a choice of 3 entrees. Chicken, rice, & veggies / bacon wrapped tenderloin, potatoes, & veggies, or fettuccine alfredo with prawns. Food was brought out in intervals of 5-10 minutes apart, kids being last!. The kids chicken was served with smoked salmon on it, the menu didn't say anything about it having salmon, and they got potato, not rice. The tenderloin was not so tender and mine was supposed to be medium and was raw!! I didn't even have a second bite. We then seen other guests being given full menus (more than 3 choices). Really wish we were given a menu! I have never sent anything back, but this was ridiculous, it was raw, cold, and tasteless. The service was slow, disorganized and confusing as we had 3 different waitresses. They did however offer to recook my dinner, but by this point i was over it, and the rest of the table was almost done eating. Overall none of us were impressed with our meal, or the cost. We will not ever recommend this place, nor will we ever step foot in it again!! Thank you for ruining what was supposed to be a birthday dinner. We then went to another restaurant, and we were able to salvage the rest of the evening and enjoy some desert. Some tips to the Management and Staff: -Organization -If your going to have a menu, you should give it to ALL your customers -Explain they have to continue cooking their own food -If your going to charge those prices, make good food!
