Heifer International congratulates Dr. Daniel Hillel, of Israel, for his recognition as the 2012 World Food Prize Laureate for his work to create new ways to bring water to crops in dry and arid regions. His work has revolutionized food production in the Middle East and elsewhere for five decades, and set the foundation for efficient use of water in agriculture, increasing crop yields and reducing environmental degradation. Hillel joins an august group that includes former Heifer International President and CEO Jo Luck in receiving the honor.
