Congrats to the students who took part in our annual French Public Speaking Contest today at lunch in the Ellen Knox Library! With speech subjects ranging from Grandir dans une famille de hockey to L'écart salarial and impromptu speeches based on a visual prompt, in categories from Core French to Francophone, these linguistically enthusiastic students impressed the judges by their creativity and finesse in la belle langue. Good luck to our 10 students who will now advance to the Independent School level of the contest on February 28 (Grade 7 and 8) and March 29 (Grade 9 to 12). Vous êtes fantastiques!

2019 is a special year for curling at Havergal! For the first time one of our teams, Team Chen, is playing in the CISAA Boys' Division, as there are not enough all-girl teams in the league to establish a separate Girls' Division. Team Chen is the only all-girls team competing in this division. During season play, they achieved a 4:1 win record and they are now headed to the Boys' Division championship on March 1. They will also be going to the OFSSA Curling provincials next month, competing in North Bay over the March Break. Good luck, Team Chen!

Our Dance Troupe presented its latest collection of dances entitled "You + Me = Us; a dance collection" earlier this month. Through the dances, choreographers and their dancers explored some of the many elements that shape our relationships with others and ourselves. It was a great show! More photos: http://bit.ly/2X6nrdG
