So cool. I don't know whether I'm more amazed at the rocket, or at the fact that the cameras are so awesome and you can watch everything live.

Fantastic interactive story that shows how even slight preferences for being in the majority leads to segregation.

I'd been looking for something similar to this to post; I had found the result fascinating ever since I learned of it when working with some NetLogo models years ago.

Fun fact, if everyone has a bias greater than 75%, you get a stable equilibrium of segregation trending toward 0 as bias increases. At 75%, you get a perfectly segregated result.

Clearly this means we can fight segregation by being super-racist.

It seems my circles are mostly well-informed of this, but it shouldn't hurt to add a signal boost:
"The countdown is on for Thursday's 7:05 a.m. EST launch of NASA's new human spacecraft, Orion, on its first voyage to space." #watchspaceflightnotsportsball
Get the latest on the first flight of Orion, NASA's new human spacecraft, with live TV, blog updates, images and more.

Microscope Makes 3D Video of Living Cells in Real Time -- www.singularityhub.com/2014/11/26/super-resolution-microscope-records-living-cells-in-real-time-3d/

This seems like it would be just a bit useful... suddenly no restriction on using fixed samples like in electron microscopy.
The videos it can produce are incredible; one is below.

What a great idea -- a passive installation that makes you part of active research.

This level of intelligence and context-awareness is getting closer and closer to parts of the vision presented in of the inimitable Bret Victor's Magic Ink essay. If you haven't read it and you work in HCI/UX, please do. http://worrydream.com/MagicInk/

Who would've expected we would get closer on mobile devices than we ever did on desktops.

If you were an alien watching our science news, you might mistakenly think humans were very concerned about the health of rats and mice.

Several thousand readers of The Hot Zone around the world happen to listen to the radio on their drive home, hearing coverage of the Ebola outbreak in Guinea. The newscaster calmly explains the known strains, mentioning that the cases so far have been from the Zaire strain. We all let out a collective, horrified gasp.

Tucked-away location with a neat atmosphere; we came on an off day so parking was easy. The lamb bolognese was delicious; the side of bread was notably tasty.
