Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Alexander applauded the support the Norfolk Sertoma Club gives Girl Scouts and the other community work they do at a picnic hosted by GSCCC at Camp Apasus. This year's lunch fell on National S'mores Day, so everyone got a special lunch treat! What's better than S'mores? Sertoma Club President Bobby Baker presented GSCCC with a $5,000 gift for the camp! Last winter when Girl Scout Troop 365 in Moyock visited the Currituck House, an assisted living facility, they realized visiting the center and helping residents wasn’t the only service the Currituck House needed. Congratulations to Juliette, a Chesapeake Girl Scout, for earning the Gold Award! For her project, Juliette completed a renewal project at the Carolyn F. Congratulations to Abigayle, Ava, Carsan, Margaret and Virginia from Troop 1270 in Williamsburg for earning their Bronze Award! Inspired by a visit to the Virginia Aquarium, the girls earned the Bronze Award by hosting an activity night for fellow Girl Scouts to learn all about sea turtles.
