Josh Williams, Adult & Online Co-Director of Enrollment, chaperoned on a Blythefield Hills Baptist Church camping trip through the Tetons. Here is what he shared about the experience:

"We were made to worship and to be in awe! Treading deep into God's epic creation I was able to help mentor students relationships with their Creator. Stepping away from all the noise of computers and cell phones we were able to self-reflect what we glorify in our lives and refocus that glory on the only one who deserves it. Psalms 8; Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!"

Good morning, ‪#‎MondayMorningMotivation‬

Test Match
Read: Psalm 35:17–28 | Bible in a Year: Psalms 37–39; Acts 26

How long, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my precious life from these lions. Psalm 35:17

A test match in the game of cricket can be grueling. Competitors play from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with lunch and tea breaks, but the games can last up to five days. It’s a test of endurance as well as skill.

The tests we face in life are sometimes intensified for a similar reason—they feel unending. The long search for a job, an unbroken season of loneliness, or a lengthy battle with cancer is made even more difficult by the fact that you wonder if it will ever end.

When your burdens overwhelm you, remember that God has His arms underneath you.
Perhaps that is why the psalmist cried out, “How long, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my precious life from these lions” (Ps. 35:17). Bible commentaries say that this was speaking of the long period in David’s life when he was pursued by Saul and slandered by the king’s advisors—a time of trial that lasted for years.

Yet, in the end, David sang, “The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant” (v. 27). His testing drove him to deeper trust in God—a trust that we can also experience in our own long seasons of testing, hardship, or loss.

As time drags on and answers seem faraway, teach me, Father, to find my help in You and Your presence. Enable me to endure, and empower me to trust in You.

When your burdens overwhelm you, remember that God has His arms underneath you.

INSIGHT:
David found strength to endure his trial by reflecting on and trusting in the character of God (Ps. 35:9–10). Three young Hebrew captives in Babylon—Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, whose names were changed to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Dan. 3)—are other examples of trust during difficult circumstances. The Babylonian ruler commanded them to dishonor God by bowing before a giant idol. They faced this challenge with hope because their past experiences with God taught them that He was worthy of their trust and confidence. Dread and apprehension turned to sure confidence and expectation because God had shown Himself faithful. Adapted from Hope: Choosing Faith Instead of Fear.

Community based campus with staff who invest great amounts of time and energy into the students college experience! I am finishing up my Bachelors of Music in Worship Arts, and the experience has been incredible. I spent two years in jazz ensemble with the skilled Dr. Werkema. I gained knowledge in music and the Scripture that are extremely valuable to me as a Christian. The professors are knowledgable, the chapel services and classes challenged me in my faith, and the Community Life staff were caring people that made my time at GBC worth every minute! The education will stick with me for a lifetime, the financial aid helped me pay for the bulk of the bill, and the student events created a Christian community that was incredibly fun. I made lifelong friends that challenge me in my faith to this day, and I was given leadership opportunities that helped hone those skills. The school advertises for employers and has presented me with job opportunities off campus as well as the on campus employment that I had, which substantially beefed up my resume with interpersonal, communication and servant leadership skills. Now in my graduate studies, I have started my Masters of Divinity in Intercultural Studies at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and look forward to continuing this journey with Christ, using the skills I gained at Grace Bible College to glorify God for a lifetime by serving others. I wish to teach guitar lessons, compose, perform, lead worship, and use my Bible knowledge to preach, teach and live the Word. I am currently connecting with local ministries for future employment while working through my Master's program.

I am finishing up my last few classes before I graduate the bachelors program. I have been with Grace since 2011. I have never had so many issues with a college program when it comes to fees and financial aid. Apparently I was not fully changed for my classes, some where left out. Then I had to pay out of pocket or get an unsubsidized loan, which gained interest because of the mistake. Also, the company they rent their books from is also very difficult. They were late sending me a few of my books for a few different classes and charged me a fee for their mistake, which GBC allowed them to do. When it comes to the class instructors, none of them are on the same page. None of the instructors graded the same, even though they were to follow the same rubric/guidelines. When I went to my advisor and the director of advisors, there was nothing that was done in order to fix the issue. Their word were exactly: "Some are harder then others but look at it as a challenge. This is your eduction take away what you can from it.". Let us keep in mind, the class I had an issue with was a lower 300 level class. My 400 level classes were no where as difficult as this one 300 level class. I also was taking duel classes, where I took more than one class at a given time. Still none where as difficult as this. I did reach out the the instructor and received no reply. Seems to me as the school and advisors do not have the students back when it comes to things like this. Why pay to go to a college like this when you receive this sort of feedback from advisors. I had many other colleges in mind, looking back I wish I chose differently.

Really good basketball program, and a nice campus for a small college. I've worked with the online education program, and everyone on staff is a pleasure to work with.

Sadly I couldn't even finish my semester at GBC due to a terrible fall and ungodly hospital bills. This is where we saw the true Christian heart of the staff. Even after 2 brutal concussions, classes were expected even though bed rest in darkness and silence were doctors orders. The only person to hear my cry was the Dean, and she could do nothing. The staff believe this was a test from God and I'd heard countless times, "Anxiety doesn't exist, because it's not of God." Or, "pray harder and it would change". This was the last straw. I even stayed after more than one professor babbled about, "all gays go to hell" and, "God must be punishing you." I'll let you all know how life is after my $5,000+ loan Ispaid off from half a semester (that they messed up) and my permanent brain damage that I acquired there, Is at least controllable. Thank you GBC, for showing us what real Christians are.

The biggest thing I have learned at GBC is how to write repetitive papers in APA format. I cannot say, that I have retained the course content in my degree program.

I'm a little bit partial, as both my wife and I work for Grace and our son is a student there, but I am continually impressed by the warmth and care that we all receive from the staff, students all associated with Grace. This is truly a Christian community and we are proud to be a part of it. So if you are looking for an accredited Bible College in Grand Rapids Michigan make sure to pay them a visit.
