#SCOTLANDSCASTLES   This is a new one of Drum Castle as the new Turret has just been finished. This lovely Castle is only 6 miles from our house and it is lovely to go and look around the beautiful grounds. This is a bit about the Castle "Drum Castle is a castle near Drumoak in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. For centuries it was the seat of the chief of Clan Irvine The place-name Drum is derived from Gaelic druim, 'ridge'.
The original 13th-century tower of Drum Castle has been suggested as the work of medieval architect Richard Cementarius, who built the Bridge of Don in Old Aberdeen. It is believed to be one of the three oldest tower houses in Scotland (and notably unaltered). A large wing was added in 1619 by the 9th laird, and further alterations were made during the Victorian era.
The castle and its grounds were granted to William de Irwyn in 1325 by Robert the Bruce, and remained in the possession of Clan Irvine until 1975. William de Irwyn (of the Irvings of Bonshaw clan) was armour bearer/secretary (and neighbor) to King Robert the Bruce. Drum played a role in the Covenanting Rebellion (as did nearby Muchalls Castle) leading to its being attacked and sacked three times.Have a wonderful weekend our friends and enjoy it.

This is Leith Hall we were here for our afternoon tea. No wonder they call it High tea. it was on the top floor This is a bit about the House.
Leith Hall is a country house in Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Built in 1650, on the site of the medieval Peill Castle, and run by the National Trust of Scotland since 1945, Leith Hall is set in a 286-acre (1.16 km2) estate with scenic gardens. The manor was the home of the Leith-Hay family for nearly four centuries.
Extensions were added to Leith Hall in 1738, 1810 and in 1904. In 1745, Andrew Hay of Rannes hid at Leith Hall after the Battle of Culloden where he fought for Bonnie Prince Charlie, later escaping to France.
During the First World War it became a temporary Red Cross hospital and housed over 500 patients.
The house contains fine china, family portraits and tapestries and some interesting clocks. The hall is noted for its gardens, set in stages with each sheltered by a wall or hedge and each with its own special character. The gardens contain flowering trees and shrubs, roses, fruit, vegetables and ornamental grasses. A little stream winds its way through the gravel paths and stone crevices and at the top of the garden, near the 18th century curved stables, is the circular "Moon Gate" leading to the old turnpike road, once the main thoroughfare to Aberdeen. Have a wonderful weekend our friends and take care.

Introduction
Well past retiring age and now disabled with Arthritis and also have COPD and go around in a wheelchair but if anyone out there has had a good as life as me I would love to meet them. I played football until I was 48 years old and had over 300 fights but Honestly what a great time I have had and I still laugh and carry on now just as if I  was a young man. Met and Married my wife within 6 weeks and that was 47 years ago. Just enjoy life folks because it is awful short. Gordon
