This is why I love Google+ and Google. Best of luck to everyone looking for someone.

That's a great idea! I hope, this will help a lot of people.

Good work Google. This is what technology is about - making a difference.

That's a great idea! Good (and Quick) Thinking guys!

Is there a similar website for 60 dead and 300 injured Iraqis from todays bomb attacks? :-]

If Google launches something like this for any major event and people know just to go to it (via a link on google.com or something) after a disaster, it could become an incredibly useful resource. Thinking back to 9/11, Katrina, the Haiti earthquakes, etc. it is easy to see the situations where this kind of tool could prove incredibly useful for helping family and friends locate their loved ones.

Heart go out to all the ppl that lost someone the explosion.

This isn't related, but this is why Google is amazing, they can launch a useful new tool within a few hours, it's amazing and helpful!!,

great that google takes the time to do this. hat off to them.

I heard a report that Boston shut down all cell phone services. I don't know if that's true, but would that affect this tool?

+Mark Vang  there is so much going on and so many calls the cell towers can not handle all the trafic

Great initiative Google!
Just one reflection.... Why was it not issued earlier today when 30 dead and 200 injured were the result of bombings in other countries?

Google we all owe you our sincerest thanks for all that you do, here and around the globe truly outstanding thank you for being there to help

Thanks for verifying that +Cory Steeley I just saw it on Twitter and no link provided. I don't really know how Person Finder works so I wasn't sure if it relied on cell connections. etc. Reading up on it now.

Kudos +Google+ for acting so fast on this. This is one of the many reasons why you are more than just a search engine or just a social network.

Way to go Google. How about getting people to upload their footage so police can get any and all angles.

Great initiative Google. You're awesome.

I don't see Apple doing anything like this. Thanks Google! :)

Thanks, Google.  And I've heard through the grapevine that those Googlers who were running in the race today are now all accounted for.  That is good news.

I really appreciate that Google uses its power and possibility to help in times of distress. Thank you!

Google = the best, keep on with it, nevermind idi#+s like EU-Commission...

+Google+ cards should pop up on Google Now for events like what occured today in Boston to give us news and let us know about things such as your person finder

You are to be applauded for your willingness to assist in this way.

+Heer Ludwig have you tried this? I hope your family and friends are all ok

Google has become the new 1st responder, I'm always amazed with their commitment to people.

Awwwwww. So sad. Around the world there's so much death. Boston, Iraq, Syria, and more. My heart and prayers going out to all families and friends.

If only there's a favorite button so I can remember the day technology is being properly used for events that really mattered

I freaking love Google, didn't they do a similar thing for that Hurricane we had a while back?
Brad W

How about one for the people in Iraq where bombs went off during the same period? Or is that not important enough a bombing?

Way to go!!! This is what technology is meant for. The good way!!!!

Thank you Google for helping fellow Americans in our time of need!!

Google is making technology for human always at everytime............

The Boston Globe already did this, and it's live people, not algorithms. The Red Cross does this sort of thing better. Get out of the Better World business, Google. Just make the search donuts in the morning and leave the rest to real people.

+Catherine Fitzpatrick and +Kim Ahlstrøm Jakobsen , if you don't like it, you're not obliged to use it. I think it's a good idea and it has shown that it works during the past. I really don't see the problem here. Why couldn't they make this available?

Maybe you prefer companies like Apple you don't see you like a person but a wallet and will not ever care about you and the rest of the world? Then go on but don't piss on Google because they're trying to help.

Give Useful Technology +Google+    ...Hey People Don't Be Lazy...That's Not Love,We'll Get Bored...

Google.. you never fail to amaze me..from your search engines..to the nexus,s.......(BOSS)

+Antoine Purnelle your response is the typical geek "forced migration" response to any criticism. It's part of soi-disant "open source" culture that the dissident be told to "fork" or "patch or GTFO". In normal democratic society, you don't tell someone they don't have to use some public utility being foisted on the public, merely because they object to a company usurping what should be municipal or federal services. It's a legitimate debate about the role of corporations, and one that people like you never fail to have about Wal-Mart, but never have about Google. It hasn't worked in the past. Google's Haitian app with "we have/you need" was an utter flop by their own recognition.

I actually prefer companies like Apple that don't pretend they are "bettering the world" when all they are really doing is running a big ad agency and trying to get their brand in the view. I'm going to piss on Google precisely because they are fake and conniving in making these claims of public service.

Google this is one of the main reasons you're the best company in the world. Even though you didn't have to, you went out and created this. While it can't help bring back the victims, its something. I will always be loyal to you Google!
