Starting today, you are going to see a brand new look for Google+ Hangouts and the addition of screensharing, which has graduated from Hangouts with Extras.

A visual refresh for Google+ Hangouts

When we launched Hangouts with Extras last September, we wanted to test new features and get feedback from users. We’ve learned a lot over the past few months, and today we’re rolling out a new Hangouts look and feel that incorporates some of the “extras,” and better reflects Google’s overall design ( Highlights include:

- Screensharing: share what’s on your computer screen with everyone in the hangout. This is the first of many extras we’re graduating to Hangouts proper.

- Bigger video: we’ve put more emphasis on the live video itself by optimizing white space and other screen elements.

Check out the attached photos to preview some of the changes, and have fun hanging out!

Nice. Thought: Can you use this without a downloadable exe component? Flash or HTML5? Downloadables are verboten in a lot of work environments, and not compatible with all OS / Browser combinations.
Change the look of G+ as well.. It looks extra simple
This could be a great solution to business who prefer not to use WebEx or a similar service.

the EXTRAS are not available in chromebook (mine's series 5). how come.
I'm glad the Google home has reverted to the black bar, I hated the big white one!
+Carl Draper I still have the big white one. But I don't mind it. The rollout is weird though. I have it on some computers and on some, I don't.
Now all we need is one group to rule them all . . .
Will there be any limitations? I can see the movie companies make this into an issue.
Awesome! My colleagues and I resides in different places. We are considering moving our conference onto hangout. Honestly it's even better than the paid services we currently using on Webex.
The killer feature in hangouts with extended features is collaborative document editing, this should be integrated in "normal" hangouts ASAP
Interessante. Muito bom. Façam parte.
