Frank/K0JQZ and I drove to Branson, MO for the OzarkCon QRP Conference in April. We planned arrive a few days early to meet up with some QRP buddies to activate several peaks in the area for Summits on the Air (SOTA). Special thanks to our entire SOTA team for the use of their photos in this video! https://youtu.be/rXNcC5CkcRs

While messing with portable antennas back behind the goat barn I ran into Greg/N4KGL ...didn't have my recorded so used my cell and starts in middle of QSO. During our QRP CW QSO Greg was on his new MTR and PAR end fed and I was using my old ATS-4 with an almost dead 9v (7.2v) battery running about 1.8w out to a delta loop at 10' matched with a  ZM-2  tuner.

Boo goat is a dead ringer for his predecessor Rooster goat and even acts like him with all his goat antics ...never a dull moment when hiking the goats.

Great video as usual, Steve. The behavioral resemblance to Rooster is uncanny. I'm sorry, however; I do miss the horns of the banished goats.

+Greg Smith Moving to a new venue is no guarantee of increased Manufacturer or Vendor participation in Hamvention, which might be part of the reason they have stayed at Hara. Other reasons include adequate space for the outside flea market in close enough proximity to the venue (something I don't see working at Nutter Center, by the way).

A Summit to Summit QSO with my friend Andy/DL6AP who is in California hiking SOTA summits while visiting US from Germany ...Unfortunately weather once again cut our time on summit short!! But managed to make some great contacts (no DX) but several S2Ss! Also a nice CW pile up 20m before lightening showed up! So saved getting electrocuted for another day! (Lets hope NOT! ...says Peanut)

My friend Frank/K0JQZ and hiked (more like slogged) up hill (a 70-degree slope) for more than an hour in deep snow to reach peak 10,650 so we could operate our radios for Summits on the Air (SOTA) The frosting on the cake for me today was making contacting with another station Juerg/HB9BIN who was also operating portable from a mountain top in in Switzerland...woohoo! Kinda like a kindred spirit-to-kindred spirit QRP contact ...Awesome for sure! KX3 @ 5w w/58' wire up 40' in tree to Juerg's FT 817 antenna(?) My best-fun Q of the day and very well worth the hour or so of sweat to get to the peak!

Our good friend Ken/WA8REI who had stroke 7-years ago and was left with only half a functioning body has had to fight back from 5-wpm to 30-wpm on his code and now gets around good enough to crawl through barbed wire fences to do his first SOTA activation at OzarkCon on Kennedy Mtn! So the Goats made up a "Stinkin' Awards Certificate" to honor his "Never-Give-Up" attitude!
