CHEAP-EASY TO BUILD 20m ANTLER
After making my first twisted pair doublet antenna yesterday I discovered that I could probably build one for 20m! Viola! ...and no ATU required for 20m ~50 ohms on 14.100 1.2:1 w/twisted pair feed line using only 18' on 20' mast elements 18' (one was 17'10" other 17'11") I'd start with 18' elements - YMMV ...20m Band seemed dead this PM only heard W1AW about S5 then called CQ a bit finally heard Al-WA4YIR in GA for a QSO. QSB 449 to 569 ...Antenna was inverted vee configuration w/100+ degrees apex angle. RBN heard me on both coasts ...Wow!
This reduced weight antler now weighs only 200-grams! ~3oz!! Next will build a few for 30/40m as mono banders! BTW KX3's ATU tuned this new shorten 20m doublet version on 40-6m! Be advise it's only self resonate on 20m ...hmmm I bet it'll play on 10m w/o ATU ...have to try it? ...YMMV with type of wire etc.
