Google Chrome 55 is now available, if you use Chrome you might want to grab it. This release improves security, reduces power consumption and leads to faster load times. It will default to a site’s HTML5 experience in most every instance when it has a choice. If a site only uses Flash, you’ll be prompted to allow it the first time you visit. Release notes are here: https://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/2016/12/stable-channel-update-for-desktop.html

By default, the posts you make public on Facebook can be viewed and commented on by anyone, including people who are not your friends. At times, this policy can become a problem as your profile picture and cover photo are always public, so these are good spots for unwelcome comments. This feature is only accessible on the most recent version of Facebook. As of this writing, the most current version of Facebook for Android is 104.0.0.17.71, and the iPhone counterpart is 72.0. You can download the latest Facebook updates using the app store.
This guide is universal and works for desktop, Android and iPhone.

Everyone who needs to troubleshoot a problem with a crashing or slow PC needs to know about Process Explorer. Think of it as a hugely more powerful version of the Windows Task Manager. It shows you what all the programs, services and processes are doing on your computer, so that you can find the source of a problem. It even lets you find out which program has a particular file open, so you can track down problems where Windows is saying that a file can't be deleted because it's open in another process.

Facebook announced that it's testing Instant Games, an HTML5 game platform built atop its social network, in its News Feed and Messenger app.
Instant Games is essentially a gaming hub where people can find new games, share them with their friends, and play together without having to worry about what device they use. People aren't constrained to a particular console, like they are with PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, and they also don't have to remember to download a new game the next time they're connected to a Wi-Fi network. Facebook is basically making it easier to play games.
This new hub will launch with 17 titles.

Researchers at Check Point have discovered that a variant of known ransomware, Locky, is taking advantage of flaws in the way Facebook and LinkedIn (among others) handle images in its bid to infect your PC. The trick forces your browser to download a maliciously coded image file that hijacks your system the moment you open it. If you do, your files are encrypted until you pay up.

Workflowy is a tool that claims to be able to help you organised your brain. In truth it's an outliner application, and a very good one at that. It's easy to use, has loads of features, and is fast. Even better, it runs completely in your browser and saves its data online, so you can access your notes and other stuff from wherever you happen to be.
The service costs around $50 a year for a "Pro" account with unlimited space, but you can create 250 items a month for free. Which should be sufficient unless your brain is particularly disorganized, I guess.
