I geocache because the activity brings me to places I would otherwise likely not have gone to. Many cache owners will bring you to a place of certain interest and I like learning why they chose the spot they chose. A hike they brought me on. Something they taught me about a place or time.

I also geocache because I find the concept of hiding things in public exciting - little did I know that for many years commuting over a certain bridge to work and back, there was a sneaky cache hidden all along. I love realizing that, every time again. I like the sport of finding harder ones. But I hate it when I DNF, to the point of obsession. Must. Find.

I geocache because it's incredibly cool to have this secluded but yet publicly accessible "treasure chest" feeling. I like that somebody, somewhere, thought of (people like) me and hid something for me to find.

Finally, I like geocaching to bring travel bugs from place to place. I suck at it, but I enjoy travel bugs very much.

You never know what surprises await at local geocaching events. At a recent gathering in Ireland, a famous celebrity made an unexpected appearance -- and this celebrity was not Signal the Frog: http://bit.ly/1VFndo6
Which celebrity would you love to see at a geocaching event?

It was one of the first cases of geocaching love. Fourteen years ago, Geocaching.com co-founder Bryan attended a small geocaching potluck event...and walked away with something much bigger than a smiley. http://bit.ly/geo-love

Now it's your turn—what geocaching love stories do you know?
Some people find much more than just cache containers when they're introduced to geocaching. Geocachers may discover parks they never knew existed, the hidden history of their community or even the...

That must have been some hot-dish for the potluck. What did she serve? I want some.

Wow, man, that cache was under the table you was using.. AND you needed a hint, you're rubbish at geocaching.. :)
Love geocaching, I tell people I do it for the kids, but really I enjoy it more then them...
I live in a city so we don't get many "swappables caches", just magnetic ones.. So my kids get bored very easily..
Keep up the good work..

Greetings geocachers! Today's newbie tip: Terrain 1 geocaches are expected to be reachable by wheelchair. We're talking walk-up/roll-up spots on even ground. If special equipment is required to get to your cache, make it a Terrain 5. http://bit.ly/1MtWjvh

Now let's hear it! What questions do you have about difficulty and terrain ratings?

Yeah, I have arthritis in both knees which prevents me from reaching a lot of higher terrain caches. It's irritating when some super-fit 20-something hides a cache at the bottom of a vine-covered 60° inclined ravine and lists it as a terrain 1.5  :/  I plan on doing harder terrain-rated caches on days I'm feeling particularly good, or when I know I have a day or 2 afterwards to recover. Mis-rated caches are pretty much a waste of time for me.

I don't have many hides, but I remember that the page you get during the hiding process where you pick the terrain and difficulty is pretty helpful.

Woah! 32,000+ geocachers have earned the Let's Get Extreme souvenir by finding a T5 or D5 geocache. Go on - brag a little if you're one of them. (You deserve to!)
Then, start planning next weekend's ‪#‎Geocaching15‬ quest by searching for CITO Events and EarthCaches near you: bit.ly/roadtripsearch

I'm one of them. Together with my good geobody H. I took a cache in Ebeltoft vig. It was in water and far from the shore. It took us an hour and a half. Wifes and kids on the beach lost sight of us in the waves. And called the local emergency services. When we came back it was to flashing blue lights. The had a boat searching for us too and they had to cancle the helicopter. It was a great trip we were at no point in any danger. But we do understand why the wifes got scared.

It's the oldest unfound geocache in Washington state, and it's really, really hard to get to.

Tensegrity on Liberty (GC1G5BY) is a Difficulty 5, Terrain 5 geocache that requires 400 feet of fifth-class technical climbing. Placed in 2008, it's never been found. This past weekend, Geocaching HQ'er Derek and a muggle friend went for the FTF. Here is their story.

It's time to crank it up a notch! To earn the Let's Get Extreme souvenir, you'll need to find a Terrain 5 OR Difficulty 5 geocache. Search for extreme geocaches: http://bit.ly/roadtripsearch

So what's it going to be: mental wizardry or extreme terrain epicness?

Boo Boo and I were able to log a cache on the 19th of June, 2015 to complete this portion of the Geocaching Road Trip 2015. We really enjoy these competitions since it adds another dimension to our geocaching adventures.
