On Wednesday 8th July 2015, Rebekah Jackson and Daniel Hammond of GBG’s Employ and Comply team attended The Sport and Recreation Alliance awards ceremony.

GBG are a very proud sponsor of the event and have been for many years. There is a great synergy between the awards and GBG’s heritage. GBG have a long history of supporting voluntary organisations to meet their criminal record checking needs. GBG work with over 40 sporting national governing bodies, many of whom were in attendance at the awards. GBG provide an online criminal record system (Online Disclosures) with an applicant helpline and eligibility support to ensure every check is done at the right level.

We were accompanied by other attendees including The FA, Rugby Football Union and British Swimming. Clubs and associations voice their opinions with the aim of providing their members with high quality services such as a daily news summary, training, governance and access to events designed to make their lives easier. Additionally, the BBC, British Athletes Commission, Sky News and the UK Sports Association were in attendance representing individuals with learning disabilities.
The awards featured the opportunity to hear about a number of activities and achievements from the previous year, as well as witness the Arthur Bell Trophy award which is presented to individuals who have shown an outstanding contribution in the development of community sport, and also the Emeritus award, which is given to individuals who have served a lifelong service to The Sport and Recreation Alliance.
This year, GBG sponsored the Youth Volunteering Award which was won by Cricket4Bromley. Cricket4Bromley is run by volunteers for volunteers and the Young Leaders programme has been set up with dual purpose objectives; to retain young people in cricket as a sport, and to provide opportunities for young people to volunteer and feel the benefits these activities can bestow upon them.
It was a fantastic event and we felt very privileged to attend and sponsor the awards, we look forward to a long and prosperous future working in partnership with The Sport and Recreation Alliance.
