Bled all our radiators this evening and discovered that one (in our bedroom) just wouldn't heat up at all. I first checked the TRV, as it was more accessible, but the pin wasn't stuck at all. So, moved the chest of drawers to the left of the radiator and discovered that the lockshield was completely closed. Opening it up I could hear the water now rushing into the radiator. Brilliant video.

I got fed up of the under-cupboard light falling off after the clip broke. I couldn't find a replacement so I made my own from a couple of L-brackets I had in my toolbox. I'm loathe to buy a whole new light just to obtain a clip.

A new, as yet unveiled, statue in St Mary's Quad, St Andrews. Of Bishop Wardlaw, I believe.

Anyone know when he is to be revealed?

Hmm... The decision: Dropbox, Google Drive or Microsoft SkyDrive?

Dropbox gives me 4.5GB free, or 54.5GB for about £6 per month (£72 per year)

Google Drive will give me 7GB free, or 100GB for about £3 per month (£36 per year)

Microsoft SkyDrive gives me 25GB free, or 45GB for £6 per year, or 75GB for £16 per year, or 125GB for £32 per year

SkyDrive is looking particularly attractive, I must say...

I am an existing SkyDrive user. I used it to back up my Windows Mobile 6 content to when Microsoft binned insert-name-of-former-Windows-Mobile-phone-backup-service. So now I have 25GB, which is nice.

Looking forward to reading this. I've been wanting variables in CSS for a long time...
The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Working Group has published the First Public Working Draft of CSS Variables Module Level 1. CSS is a language for describing the rendering of structured documents (such as HTML and XML) on screen, on paper, in speech, etc. This module contains the features of CSS level 3 relating to variables. It includes and extends the functionality of CSS level 2, which builds on CSS level 1. The main extensions compared to lev...

Not only is Trello an amazingly useful web app, this extension adds Agile/Scrum capabilities in a really neat way. Very, very useful.

There's nothing more personal than an end-of-year round-up using auto-backed-up photos. Thanks Google! ;)

Joshua came running through to my study. "Dad!" he said, "we've made a swamp. Come and see."

Ah!

Every toy, every book, ever article of clothing from their chest of drawers.

How exactly do you spell 'graduation'? Is that the Fife pronunciation?

What can I say? Marks and Spencer food halls are like a temple for the middle classes. You can find everything you need plus loads of stuff you didn't realise that you needed. Like fruit smoothie with beetroots in it.

This was my second stay at a Premier Inn, the first being in Glasgow in January. This was just as pleasant a stay. On arrival I was greeted enthusiastically by a member of staff. What I love about Premier Inn is they focus on the basics and do them really well: welcome, comfort, sleep, and food. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to beds (bad back) and pillows and their choice of pillows and a great bed addresses both of those concerns. The room is comfortable and dark enough to sleep. The bathroom is always clean and the shower is big enough even for a giant like me. Breakfast was delicious and set me up for the day. The staff were really friendly (but not in that force way you often experience in hotels) and efficient. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
