Some of the newer garage doors have a "pinch proof" design that helps people avoid getting their fingers caught in the door panels as the door opens and shuts. This feature is great, in particular, for families with small children. Garage doors are most likely the largest moving part to your home. You and your family will not regret adding bonus safety features!

Garages hold some of our most valuable possessions. Therefore, it doesn't make sense that we would rely on the protection of a low-quality door. A high-quality garage door can provide better lock systems and security measures. Don't make it easy for burglars or thieves! Consider an upgrade.

If the garage door does not operate with either the wall switch or remote, the power source may have been disrupted. First, make sure the motor unit is plugged in. Then, check the circuit breaker, fuse and GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter).

If your garage door is functioning properly, it should not be making loud or terrible noises. If your garage door does start to make loud noises, the safety of your door may be compromised. It is best to hire a professional to fix big problems because of safety reasons. With that in mind, here are three suggestions to quite your noisy door! If you have a chain or screw drive guide, consider replacing it with a belt driven motor. Also, nylon rollers will also dramatically reduce noise. Lastly, remember to regularly lubricate hinges, springs, and rollers.

If your garage door won't close, there may be a problem with your safety eyes. These sensors are located at the bottom corners of your garage door. These sensors are in place to ensure that the garage door does close on children, pets, your car and other objects. The safety eyes need a clear line of sight to one another in order for the door to close. If something obstructs this line of sight, the door will not close.

Having trouble with your garage door spring? There are many things to know before changing a spring on your own. If you've decided to do it yourself, one thing to take into account is the amount of time it can take. Measuring and unwinding the old springs can take more time than expected, so make sure you have several hours to do it!

Garage doors are heavy – an average garage door can weigh anywhere from 250-350 lbs., which means that garage door springs are under a lot of pressure. Before you begin to replace one, make sure you take precautions so you and those around you don’t get hurt.

So, your garage door doesn't seem to be working. Your first step is to take a look at all the stationary parts to see if everything is in place. If you can’t find any hardware problems with your door, then frequently it is an electric garage door operator issue. Call a professional to come out and repair it.
