"We Are Here: I Am You" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, opens this Saturday, August 19.

In honor of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s fiftieth anniversary, the museum presents "We Are Here," a three-part exhibition drawn from its collection. The first part, "I Am You" gathers works that question how we relate to and shape our environments. Opening at a later date, "You Are Here" examines how the role of the viewer has changed over time; and "We Are Everywhere" showcases artists who borrow from popular culture. Works by Richard Artschwager, Francis Bacon, Jasper Johns, and Rudolf Stingel are included in "I Am You." #RichardArtschwager #FrancisBacon #JasperJohns #RudolfStingel #Gagosian

"THE FACE: A Search for Clues" at the +Deutsches Hygiene-Museum, Dresden, Germany, opens this Saturday, August 19.

We encounter human faces in personal interaction but also on the internet, in the memory of digital cameras and smartphones, in databases of private or state institutions, on posters, cinema walls, and TV screens. This exhibition explores the relationship between the face and society, and whether it is a commodity, a data set, or a central reference point that connects people. Work by Cindy Sherman, Taryn Simon, and Andy Warhol is included.

Jeff Koons's exhibition of recent and new work at Gagosian Beverly Hills closes this Friday, August 18. Don't miss out!

In "Ballerinas" (2010–14) from the "Antiquity" series, Koons depicts figurines of dancers, derived from decorative porcelain, at the imposing scale of classical sculpture. Their delicate details and subtle color gradations, rendered in luminous, transparent color, present—somewhat paradoxically—as lessons in immaterial abstraction.

"Making Space: Women Artists and Postwar Abstraction" at MoMA The Museum of Modern Art, closes this Sunday, August 13. It is a must see!

In the postwar era, societal shifts made it possible for larger numbers of women to work professionally as artists, yet few support networks existed for them. Drawn from the museum’s collection, the exhibition features more than one hundred paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, prints, textiles, and ceramics by some fifty women artists, including Helen Frankenthaler.

To mark its 125th anniversary, +Vogue has commissioned John Currin to create a portrait of the actress Jennifer Lawrence for its upcoming September issue.

"The painting puts Mr. Currin’s many influences on full display. Ms. Lawrence is depicted in a Mannerist pose, unnatural but elegant. Perspective is minimized and a rococo palette competes with a hint of Dutch old master sobriety. The hat provides the element of the absurd that Mr. Currin is known for. And all of this is filtered through a pictorial style that evokes classic magazine illustrations from the 1930s and 1940s." Read more about it in +The New York Times's feature here (click on the link below).
