Firefighting was a job where Janet Jaeger, 54, of Everett could help people, and be around others who wanted the same. She found it in a long career at the Clearview Fire Station for Snohomish County Fire District 7.
“I saw it as cerebral and physical,” she said, “and to me it's the closest thing to being a professional athlete.”
