This morning I took the ūüöÜ to work so Elyse and I had to wait around for 10 minutes for scheduling. She suggested coloring dinosaur puzzles that only came with three markers. Of course that led to a talk about the four color theorem. Hence, chimeric eyes and purple clouds...

Impressive: quite a few Code Jam participants submitted solutions in 8 different languages to solve the 4 qualification round problems, one for each of the two difficulty levels. Most, like these, got perfect scores. Coincidence?

After 9.5 mind-blowing years at Google, this Friday will be my last day. I'm joining a very small startup (four people!) working in storage and virtualization.  I'm hoping to expand my horizons a bit, earn a few more battle scars, and let's be honest, plumb the depths of my capacity for sleep deprivation.  Again.  :)

It's a very bittersweet thing to leave this amazing place, having worked here fully one quarter of my life, but new adventure beckons...

Amazing Amazon search result for "soap dispenser kitchen".  I am not sure what this item is, but if it is screws, I at least want to know how many I'm paying $97 for...

Latest unbelievable Google employee Maternity/Paternity benefit:  For the first half year with your new child if you ever need supplies from the local Babies/Toys R Us, Walgreens, Target, Raleys (non-perishable)  Google sends a shopping concierge to pick them up for you, box them nicely, and place them on your doorstep that Same Day, free of charge (you just pay sticker price).  If you've ever tried to get a 2 year old out the door, you understand how nice this is.  Oh wait, what's this?!  I guess that's not just for us, it's free for 6 months for any Bay Area resident.  http://goo.gl/Iq7O3 early access code F&F6

I for one am spending all day with an 802.11-enabled device in my pocket and typing on another one to commemorate the day.

How big is one billion? I finally found a way to wrap my head around it: I am (well) over one billion seconds old! (Happens at 31 years, 8.25 months)
