First Day of Spring?
Here we are at the Vernal Equinox and like last year at this time it is still snowing. I have seen most of my birdbath and all of my trashcan emerging from the snow, so I do have hope, but my recycling bin though visible for the first time since late Januar...

Let's Think About Something Else
Our snow total for yesterday was a foot. In March. Temperatures under 20° all day. I'm grouchy, so we need some elevating content:

And at Last a Distraction
Yes, we are still (partially) buried in snow, but now instead of being up to our eyeballs we are just up to our butts. I suspect the residents of Boston are still mighty discontented, the more so since we will be getting more snow tonight, but at least here...

Within Spittin' Distance of Spring
Every day I see more signs of spring - the birds are singing, the days are longer, Daylight Savings Time is in effect. The tree buds are swelling, as are the flower buds on my big rhododendrons. I don't know what's happening to the dwarf rhodys - they are s...

Nanook of Cape Cod
We are still in the throes of winter. A couple of days ago we picked up another four inches or so; today the tally looks to be about an additional eight inches, bringing the snow total amounts at my house to about six feet since the middle of January. I am ...

Winter at the Beach
The weather has become so all-pervading that just the sight of someone's pictures online that feature green grass or people outdoors in short sleeves makes me angry and depressed. As a tonic for my seasonal wounded spirit we got into the car and headed for ...

It's hard to imagine in this day when art covers such a wide range of acceptable expressions that Turner's art was revolutionary and shocking in it's time.

Thankful Thursday: Art and Wednesday chinwag with Sis.
I am thankful for Art, artists, and especially Oil Painters.  This man  William Turner , is one of my all time favorites. These pictures were from a search of his name, and I would list the pages but they are commercial sites which are selling reproductions...

We made our reservation on the recommendation of a friend who had vacationed there for many years. I was disappointed in the size of our campsite, but otherwise would recommend the campground. The game rooms are roomy and pleasant, and the shower and toilet facilities clean (checked by management several times per day) and convenient. Free wifi is available, the camp store is well stocked and reasonably priced by campground standards, and the sites make up for their size by having electricity and water available at each site. It is not a "party" campground. Things quiet down very early and stay that way all night. I appreciate this because we are tent campers, and adults who are camping for the quiet. I would have liked to have seen and heard more wildlife, but the more primitive conditions of a campground where this is possible were not to my taste on this trip. Lots of kids - a good family destination.
