We're so close to making our first monthly pledge goal on +Bountysource! So far we've paid out $15,000 in bounties (That's almost 3 months salary for a junior developer in the US). Help us build a bigger bounty budget and fund the development of open source software :D

We're excited to formally announce Pantheon Mail!
Sometime last year the Yorba website was subtly changed from “Yorba is a non-profit free software group” to “Yorba was”. This made us very, very sad at elementary. Before that, we’d been working on...

Have you seen +Cassidy James Blaede's talk from #SCALE14x yet? He gives a great explanation of what "UX" is, why it's important, and how to bring UX thinking to your organization. Check it out :D

We left this posted all of April without further comment. In case you missed it, it was indeed an April Fools joke. 😉
Today we are happy to announce a new effort from elementary and Apple called elementary for OS X. [[MORE]]Mac users have long dreamed of the ability to run elementary apps—ranging from the fast and...

+Kurisu Brooks we noticed that... But I allowed it. There was talk of actually SSHing forwarding and whatnot… but it was just a gag. 😉

We're long overdue for a new blog post! So let's talk about what web team has been up to :D
While we’ve been busy whittling down those last issues before Loki Beta, we’ve also been hard at work on making our website even more awesome. Since we open sourced our website early last year, we’ve...

+Jono Bacon, former Canonical employee and Community Manager at GitHub, describes the effort as, “everything a Mac user like myself could hope and dream of.”

It's the little things. :)

We just updated our Getting Started guide with some information on how multiple displays work! Check it out at elementary.io/docs/learning-the-basics#multiple-displays.

And remember, our entire website is open source! Anyone can contribute additions like these at github.com/elementary/mvp.

I started to be 'small' fun of OS X, but I was looking for familiar enviroment on my desktop computer. Yesterday I download elementary and launched it. My opinion? Very stable and nice looking. But lack of minimize, maximize can be bit annoying. And I experience poor video quality playback on default video player. I don't know is it because of the codecs maybe.

We design & develop elementary OS, the fast & open alternative to Windows & OS X.
Introduction
elementary is a team of dedicated developers, artists, and everyday computer users who want to craft an incredible computing experience. We make elementary OS—an open source operating system and many apps—and give them to users to help bring this goal to reality.

We believe in the powerful combination of a top-notch user experience, a beautiful interface, and the freedom to do with your computer what you like.

Read about elementary on our Journal, get help with elementary OS, learn how to get involved, or check out our resources for developers.
