If each of our followers pledged just $1 a month, we'd pass our goal over 2x! Have you considered becoming a Patron?

Hi team! First, I would like to wish you bunch a happy and great new year for 2017 and forward, also thank you for going more active on your posts.

On that last note, I would like to know why exactly did you moved from blogging on Tumblr to Medium?

I'm not complaining, just would like to know the advantage of doing so and why exactly made you choose Medium over other platforms, like WordPress and specially Ghost (https://ghost.org/) both of which are open-source and the later which I feel goes along pretty well with the whole elementary goals and style.

Thanks for taking your time. I feel like this was more of a question for a +simply elementary episode :-P

I'm going to disable comments here. I'm extremely disappointed in the conduct of our community during a time when we're supposed to be extra caring.

The proper response when someone wishes you well is to say, "Thanks, you too!" not freak out about the way they said it not being tailored to your specific culture or religion. Especially when the delivery is a lighthearted poke at the sometimes awkwardness of not making assumptions about other people. If you want to say "Merry Christmas", say that. If someone decides to say "Happy Holidays" to you and you freak out, you're the one who's trying to control other's speech. You're not being oppressed by not being allowed to oppress everyone else. It is ridiculous that this has to even be said.

Inclusiveness is a very important part of our company culture. If we can't promote inclusiveness in our community in the most unobtrusive way imaginable without backlash then there's a HUGE issue in our community. I hope people here take the time to reflect on how they're acting and how the next time they go out into a public space they can instead choose to just "be excellent to each other".

+Martin Peter Right now we're posting to both.

We originally chose Tumblr because of the flexibility of the platform and the ability to make different kinds of posts. We experimented with their Ask Us Anything feature, but it turned out to be a little overwhelming for us to keep up with. In the end, we're just doing text posts.

Medium has been really interesting for us to work with. We usually write and edit our posts in Google Docs or DropBox Paper and Medium has been really good about retaining the formatting, including images, when we copy a post over to be published. It also has a lot of interesting discovery features and we think the audience of the platform is more in tune with tech news. So we're trying it out to see what the response is like and to see how we can reach more people

This seems cool. Adopting this feature would fix the problem of apps refusing to work with either Ubuntu Settings or GNOME Settings depending on the desktop. 😊

We design & develop elementary OS, the fast & open alternative to Windows & OS X.
Introduction
elementary is a team of dedicated developers, artists, and everyday computer users who want to craft an incredible computing experience. We make elementary OS—an open source operating system and many apps—and give them to users to help bring this goal to reality.

We believe in the powerful combination of a top-notch user experience, a beautiful interface, and the freedom to do with your computer what you like.

Read about elementary on our Journal, get help with elementary OS, learn how to get involved, or check out our resources for developers.
