We were a bit chuffed to receive a boost after our recent, rigorous Qualmark New Zealand assessment.

They moved up from four stars to four star PLUS!

Qualmark New Zealand is the official tourism quality assessment system.

We’ve retained our Enviro Silver Award which indicates we have ‘exceptional levels of resource management and social responsibility’.

We stayed at Edgewater for 2 nights. We were on the upper floor in a beautifully refurnished suite. We had a small kitchen/bar area, big living/dining room, and a fantastic bedroom with a massive ensuite bathroom with waterfall bathtub and a dual-showerhead stand up shower. Besides the washer being broken, and no fan in the bathroom...our stay was wonderful. Some constructive criticism however; a fan in the bathroom would help with preventing mould spots on the ceiling, and even though 1gb of data per device is generous, it's a bit of a strange system. One final thing, the suite could use a basic serving spoon, and a frying pan. Otherwise, everything was incredible. Modern, clean, quiet, and warm.

We found this place when we couldn't find a room to book in Queenstown. It's about an hour's drive, but well worth it to get back here after a day of adventures down there. The hotel sits peacefully on Lake Wanaka and it's an easy 20-minute walk or 10-minute bike ride around to the town center along the path. The customer service was top notch and friendly, to the point that we stayed an extra day. Everyone was a local expert and gave us endless tips on activities, sights, and trails to take in. Our suite had a kitchen and living room and had a nice lakeside patio to sip some of the delicious local wine.

Our lodge owners recommended we stop through Edgewater on our walk along the lake to the winery... for the scones. They told us if we had about 20 minutes (and we were not in a hurry) that the scones were worth it. So I cannot speak to the accommodations at all - but we got scones and some kind of cafe beverages. The coffees were great, but the scones were phenomenal. Warm and perfect. And it happened to be raining so we waited out the storm while enjoying scones that garnered this location 4 stars.

Edgewater is a nice hotel with access to the Lake, located in a quiet residential neighborhood. The town center is about a 5 minute drive away, where all the prominent restaurants/bars/shops are to be found. We were fortunate to receive an upgrade to a 1 Bedroom Apartment with part Lake views on the Ground Floor (Room 805). The room was quite large and well equipped with kitchenette and laundry. Parking was near to the room, though not right next to it, which made transferring heavy luggage on rainy days difficult. The rooms don't have AC, but have heaters in the hall, bedroom and the bathroom, which was quite convenient. A standing fan is also available in the closet, which was very helpful. The WiFi/mobile network connectivity in our room was terrible or virtually absent. Despite our complaints, it wasn't rectified. Also, we found brown hairy caterpillars in our hall, so I wouldn't advise a Ground Floor Room. Upper floors have better views and are more secure. The hotel staff was very helpful, while the hotel amenities included a Spa/Sauna, Tennis Courts and beautiful lawns adjoining the Lake. Overall, this is an excellent place to stay considering the comforts, view from the rooms and close proximity to the Town center. Slightly expensive, but worth the buck.

Very nice facility. Great rooms. It was warm when we stayed there and we needed to leave windows open. No window screens, so we got bug bites. Otherwise we would definitely stay there again.

Refurbished rooms very clean and tidy all with great views of the lake. Bit of a hike into town though

Dear James Pleased you enjoyed your rooms. Hopefully you didn't find the lakefront stroll too taxing though, given the pleasant scenery. Regards Edgewater
