I wish to bring your kind notice , that earlier we could get the conjugation of verbs by hovering the cursor on the verb in the lessons but now, I don't understand the reason behind it, but you have stopped this facility and because of that we cannot find the proper forms of the verbs easily, I request you to restart that facility again. Thank you.

Alvin Brinson: This says more about university language courses than it does about Duolingo.

It's very easy to get through 2 years of college Spanish in the US, for example, without actually being able to speak Spanish. I got through 3 semesters before I actually had a prof that tried to teach seriously and held students accountable for learning. I ended up with a D in his class because I was unprepared due to the previous three semesters of fluffola. He also emphasized conversation, and held frequent off-campus "charlas con cafe" for any students or ex students who wanted to attend.

A serious language learner can complete a duolingo course easily. That's no problem - you still learned something. It was never meant to teach advanced language.

Once you finish the Duo course, move on to something more challenging.

Jenny A: +Varun Singh I lived in Japan for 4 years and had a low intermediate understanding. Now that I'm back in the states, I'm unfortunately stuck in an area where there aren't any Japanese or opportunities for the language.

I've tried Wanikani and didn't care for it. Besides I brought back a ton of Japanese learning material, children's books, etc.

Jenny A: I'm still waiting for +Duolingo to finish up the Japanese. Once they do then I'll seriously start using the site. Right now I'm passively learning French.

One complaint I have is that it tries to teach you full sentences right off instead of giving you words then build up. Are we to assume that duolingo is best used as a supplement to your regular studies instead of just learning for fun? What if we want to learn for fun and don't expect to any more than that?

Nur als Info: soweit ich weiß, ist 25 der höchste Level bei Duolingo. Ich habe kürzlich (nach 5 Jahre!) Level 24 in Deutsch erreicht!

Ich werde es mal probieren, Duolingo früh am Morgen zu benutzen. Für mich ist Duolingo öfter ein tolles Ende des Tages. 😀

Ich plane für Duolingo auch mehr Zeit ein.
Wenn ich mich nicht irre, dann kann man 30 Level erreichen, benötigt dafür allerdings auch 30.000 Punkte...
Welche Information letztlich richtig ist, ist allerdings wohl nicht wichtig, da auch dann fleißig weiter geübt wird.
Bei zwei Sprachen frage ich mich allerdings, ob ich je so weit kommen werde... 😱
Bei Duolingo finde ich es am wichtigsten einen langen Strike zu haben.
10 XP pro Tag und pro Sprache sind dabei eigentlich zu wenig, aber darf dabei auch nicht zu viel werden, wenn man in der Sprache nicht sicher genug ist ...
Wenn es allerdings gerade Spaß macht, dann sollte man immer so viel machen, wie man gerne möchte! 😀
(Ich habe also kein Patentrezept.) ...

❗ Bei #Duolingo schreite ich in der Regel nur sehr langsam voran, da ich täglich meist nur eine Wiederholung schaffe. Oft habe ich dann die Grammatik zu den Lektionen nicht gelesen, oder schon wieder vergessen, was mal also für das Zeitmanagement irgendwann mal wieder machen sollte. ❗

Bis 🏁 Level 30 ist es aber noch ein langer Weg und in der Zwischenzeit wird es sicherlich zwingend notwendig sein da noch etwas zu wiederholen. ⭐

Bei #Englisch ist dies weniger relevant, aber bei #Esperanto, #Schwedisch und auch bei #Französisch ist merke ich 🚩 Lücken.

⏩ Viele Wiederholungen in dem #Sprachkurs helfen allerdings sehr und insbesondere #Englisch geht 🍻 flüssig von der Hand ...

Es macht ⚽ Spaß, wenn man sich für Wiederholungen ein Ziel setzt, wie ein neues #Level über die #Feiertage, diese Ziele müssen natürlich erreichbar sein, denn höhere Level sind später immer 📐 zeitaufwendiger, zu erreichen und dies dann auch zu schaffen ...

Die #Kurse bei Duolingo machen #Spaß und sind insbesondere am Morgen ein toller Start in den Tag.

#Fremdsprachen sind, bei aller Technik, ein Schlüssel zur 🌏 Welt und es macht eben einen Unterschied, wenn man die #Sprache, mit Fehlern, 🔔 spricht und schreibt, oder ob man alles aus einer Maschine kommt.

🔔 Leute honorieren es häufig, wenn man sich die Mühe macht eine #Fremdsprache zu lernen. 💬

Das ist sehr hilfreich, wenn man 🚶 unterwegs 🌎 ist und wegen dem Internet sollte man generell darauf achten, dass man in ein paar Sprachen Kenntnisse hat! ...

Honza Pačuta (CyberAngel): That's the thing modern people don't seem to get. Learning the common tongue doesn't mean you can tolerate different mentality, e.g. their religion. It means that you'll know what they're trying to say, just not what their motives are.
Europe now has many problems with Muslim immigrants. They learn our language, but are definitely not tolerant because of their religion.

From what I could gather only folks on iOS can use this at the moment, Web and Android aren't ready yet

Ryan Okushi: But, for those of you who really want to learn Japanese, there is a glitch that lets you start the course already, even though it hasn't been released yet. I'm already level 4. I posted a link to the original discussion in one of my comments, here:

Get ready to learn about lots of new “characters” on Duolingo. ;)

Poof: It says estimated release of the language is the 15th of next month... hopefully that'll be when it actually comes out because if not then I'll be sad, but yeah, Japanese for english speakers is FINALLY (after all these years, literally) coming. :D

兵雄（Jaran）: +Sanket Gupta okay but that doesn't answer how you "know" it won't be Japanese. This language has been in beta for a while, already has a Japanese to English version, has nearly 12k people on the waiting list officially and is one of the most requested courses in this site.

Also "new characters" sounds a lot like a new alphabet (which is what kanji is to most of us here on a western oriented site) and it makes sense on a site dedicated to language.

Amelia Empson: Is the new character another bird? If so, please make it a mourning dove and name her Penelope :) That is my little rescue right now :D
