A day of rain at ~50F cleared a lot of ground around Boston, but had little effect on the Alewife snowmound. #meltprogress

Saw it but was waffling. Thanks for the reminder.

The waffling was mostly from memories of crappy official Shriekback vault releases in the past. But the biggest problem with those was that they were on CDRs that degraded and thus aren't with me anymore. So getting another copy wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

More auto retro filtering courtesy the big G. The sunset didn't look quite this trippy in RL.

I don't think I quite got to 40 miles on the day, but after work I climbed some of Somerville's hills, grades as steep as 6% (for short stretches) and Fitbit thinks I went up more than 100 flights of stairs. About as ready as I'm gonna be, I guess.

This seems like a swell time to say a resounding THANK YOU to everyone who's supported me so far. So: "THANK YOU!!!"

Google thought the Lego giraffe needed a funky retro filter. Yeah, OK. It did basically look like this an hour later when it started raining...

If no one interferes, I expect this to be one of the last snowpiles to completely disappear. Most is always shaded, the rest gets only morning sun. It does get warmed by bus exhaust, but the deposits also protect it. #meltprogress

You should start a betting pool on what month it will disappear in.

About 26 miles this morning, the last real training day before the ride on Saturday. I'll do a bit of hill work tonight and try to get around 40 on the day. Notable: in Joyce Miller's meadow there's some frog or bug that really sounds like an incipient mechanical problem, and it croaks or squeaks at exactly the same pace I pedal. Also this was the first time I did the last little stretch of the Minuteman Trail (from Hartwell Ave up to the Bedford Depot) ... and the refinishing is beautiful. Chipmunk count: 2.

Not cheap, but fairly priced, not the fastest, but have always met the schedule they promise. But absolutely the best workmanship, and the most knowledgable staff of any Boston-area bike shop I've tried.

Extensive cocktail menu with a mix of classics and modern offerings, sharable plates with an emphasis on intense flavors and rich food (we did two rounds of the assorted sandwich plate). Was SRO when we arrived at nearly 10 on a Saturday night. Service much friendlier than I expect from a place with this sort of mood, too.

Had the Prix Fixe brunch. Everything we had was quite good, but the peppery smoked salmon might have been the highlight. We opted for wine pairings; the wines were very nice for by-the-glass offerings, but not necessarily matched particularly well with the specific dishes.

Terrific 3 course breakfast, lots of interesting and eclectic art in the rooms and common spaces. Our innkeepers mentioned that they were very new to the inn, but that didn't negatively impact our experience. We'd definitely stay here again.

Two visits so far and we haven't ventured from the small plates yet. Everything has been flavorful. Open kitchen, always a bold choice. The decor is really interesting, incorporating some high tech dynamic art.
