Do not write off this planar-sided truckette as an unwelcome gatecrasher among the power-crazed pages of TopGear.com. Its purpose is noble. Its pedigree exquisite. And its capability extraordinary. “It’s a crime, almost, that only 20 percent of the world’s population has access to a motor vehicle,” says Sir Torquil Norman, ex-fighter pilot, lawyer, economist, banker and retired toy magnate. But he didn’t just rant about it. He set down the criter...

Epic cross country flight opportunity for you, the person reading this now.
Great way to see the country by air.

I bought a Cessna-150 for fun (as my Cirrus SR-22 is not for fun :) ). It is located in Alabama currently, while I live in California. I will be flying it here in the beginning of September (likely starting Sept 10). As this is a slow plane with a small fuel tank, there will be many stops along the way. If the weather is perfect, the trip will take three days. If it is not, then maybe five.

What does this mean for you? If you're interested in a roadtrip-by-air adventure sometime in September, reply here or contact me. You will be responsible for getting yourself to the airport in Alabama on time for departure (if you arrive to Birmingham near the time I do, we can taxi-pool to the airport where the plane lives: Shelby County Airport in Alabaster, AL), your own part of whatever lodging costs end, and your own food costs. You will be dropped off at Palo Alto Airport on completion of the journey (though, I suppose, could get off earlier at any of the other stops).

I will be flying by day and sleeping by night. The plane's range is 3 hours, so most days will involve 2 or 3 hops of 3 hours each and nights will be free of flight.

The cost to you besides your own expenses is zero. The plane has two seats, so I can take one person with me.

Interested?

"Continental breakfast" included pastries that looked about as plastic as something can. Two juice choices that were both water and sugar and colour with no juice. The room size for breakfast was tiny. With two tables (see photos) Bananas were black(see photos)

Worst service ever. Hung on hold for HOURS on Monday during business hours just to talk to a "representative". Avoid at all costs. Really. You're better off carrying your boxes across the state than dealing with this company.

Food was good. It arrived quickly and delivered what it promised. But, tea cups were small and refills were few and very far in between, to a point that I had to get up, catch a waitress, and deliberately ask for more tea.
