Quitting something you love: https://sivers.org/quit

Personal change needs some space to happen. To bring something new into your life, you need somewhere to put it.If your current habits are filling your day, where is this new stuff supposed to go?

OpenBSD 6.0 : why and how : https://sivers.org/openbsd
The only operating system I use on my computers is not Mac, not Windows, and not even Linux. It's OpenBSD, and I love it so much.

Keep earning your title, or it expires : https://sivers.org/expire
Until yesterday, I called myself an entrepreneur.Today I erased it from the top of every page on my site.

I'm a solitary socialite : https://sivers.org/soso
This is just a self-indulgent bit about myself — something I feel like describing, because I find it unusual and interesting.

I'm using G+ less and less - (like logging in just once a month) - and might just stop altogether. So if we're not connected by good old-fashioned email yet, please just email me a hello to derek@sivers.org so we can keep in touch directly.

Why are you doing? https://sivers.org/why
The most important thing in life is to know why you are doing what you’re doing.

I'm a very slow thinker : https://sivers.org/slow
When a friend says something interesting to me, I usually don’t have a reaction until much later.

Yes, exactly. Especially poignant for me is the image of old photos you've chosen to accompany this entry. When my parents passed away years ago I came into possession of my Dad's huge collection of photos, slides and digital images. When I am in that intellectually unmotivated place, I fall back to the seemingly never ending project of digitizing Dad's photos and organizing them onto DVDs for sharing with the family. Soon, I'm up and running again with my writing, gardening or whatever .

Introduction
Derek Sivers is best known as the founder of CD Baby.

A professional musician (and circus clown) since 1987, Derek started CD Baby by accident in 1998 when he was selling his own CD on his website, and friends asked if he could sell theirs, too.

CD Baby was the largest seller of independent music on the web, with over $100M in sales for over 150,000 musician clients.

After he won the 2003 World Technology Award, Esquire Magazine's annual "Best and Brightest" cover story said, "Derek Sivers is changing the way music is bought and sold... one of the last music-business folk heroes."

In 2008, Derek sold CD Baby to focus on his new ventures to benefit musicians, including his new company MuckWork where teams of efficient assistants help musicians do their "uncreative dirty work".

His current projects and writings are all at sivers.org.
