Arthur C. Clarke’s visionary books have fueled the imaginations of young and old for decades. And now The University of California, San Diego and the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation have agreed to establish the Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination at UCSD – led by my friend and colleague, Professor Sheldon Brown. The Clarke Center will foster collaborations in fields such as technology, education, engineering, health, science, industry, environment, entertainment and the arts – focusing on the essential role of human imagination and creativity.

That's a great recognition of Clarke's sharp vision of the future!
Huh. I know Sheldon Brown as the (now deceased) bicycle hacker from Harris Cyclery.
This SHeldon Brown is a world renowned tech artist.
I can't think of a better person to name it after. He predicted a startling array of things that are now commonplace.
