"The fact is that extreme behavior that can cause harm to members of our, or any, community is not cool. In fact it is the opposite of cool," writes President Phil Hanlon '77 in an op-ed for The Boston Globe. Hanlon describes measures he and the Dartmouth community are taking to address high-risk drinking, sexual assault, and lack of inclusivity on campus. #MovingDartmouthForward

Tonight, President Phil Hanlon '77 addressed a group of students, faculty, staff, and alumni with a call to action to end high-risk and harmful behaviors on campus. President Hanlon announced a Presidential Steering Committee that will focus on three critical areas: high-risk drinking, sexual assault and lack of inclusivity, and has called on the Dartmouth community to take part by providing comments and recommendations. "Enough is enough," said Hanlon in his remarks. "We will move Dartmouth forward."

Maple syrup anyone? Jill Britton '14 stokes the fire at the sugar house, which is located on the Dartmouth Organic Farm property. Students learn how to make maple syrup from the approximately 80 sugar maple trees which are part of the farm's sugar bush.

I applaud President Hanlon for tackling this head on. Culture change of this sort will be a long, ongoing process. Staying transparent with information on the subject, in my opinion, is a big step forward.
