I am having a terrible experience trying to reach someone in person.  I am not happy!  No one has responded to my emails, and the automated voice prompt is frustrating.... What happened to a live person dealing with the customer??

The following review is, in my opinion, fair and honest. I point out the good AND the bad. My rating of FOUR is for what it IS, but it COULD be a five! I would recommend this park to anyone. Ok, to begin with, I would change some things, one would be how they USED TO have TWO trains on each coaster, loading one while the other was going around, so the lines went faster. Very disappointed they seen to REFUSE to do this anymore. Seems they have more 'rules and regulations' than common sense and lost focus on customer enjoyment and efficiency. And the Giant Wheel is no longer lit up at night. What a shame. Just to save some money on bulbs and maintenance? Food/drink prices are astronomical, but the food is pretty good and saves you a 3 mile walk back to your car. They certainly make money at this park! Park no longer holding their 'Fright Fest', as they are not open past September this year. Too bad. Park is clean, secure, safe, and beautiful. Nice landscaping and decor, helped by the fact this park has been here since about 1980 give or take, it's matured nicely. The camping section is awesome, with a lodge, bar, camp store with deli, and nice campsites. Pricey but it includes the park, nice to go back to your site, chill out, eat (get the grill out and save $$$), and go back and forth at your leisure, no parking issues or marathon walks back to your car to fight everyone out of the parking lot. Rent an RV or bring your own, or stay at the Lodge on the Lake ($$$$$) Would love to see more capital investment...ie another MAJOR roller coaster, like Cedar Point and other parks, seems like this park is content with being average instead of bettering themselves to above-average. Enough of the token gestures of a 'new' attraction that is a lame addition to the water park or that 'Rolling Thunder' (best known as the Texas Roundup)...hey guys...it's not new, it's OLD. Just cuz you build a new one and call it something else doesn't make it a new ride...how bout a new mega roller coaster, something that would put you back in the news? So much missed potential. Anyway, for our area, it's a nice place to have a good time. I've been here as a kid, and have taken my own kids here. Now too old for the kiddie rides, but they were the best kiddie rides I've seen anywhere in our demographic area. Well thought out, and fun. Kiddie area is nicely placed, fairly centralized in the park, yet with enough separation from the 'big' rides and people. Kind of miss my kids being little. Bring lots of money and plan on not wanting to leave, it really is a great place to go. Admission: $$$ (Season pass: $$) Food: $$$ (At camp store: $$) Lodge: $$$$$$ RV rental: $$$$$ Camping: $$$ to $$$$

There are some nice big rides, but the company appears to have decided to make you wait by only operating one coaster at a time (instead of loading one while the other is out.) This makes waits long for all rides, even when the park is not busy. These are on all coasters in the park. There is a pretty good selection of little kid rides. The park is not especially clean. Bathrooms are gross. Prices on concessions are a little high of course, but ok. Hope you like pizza, chicken strips or hamburgers. They have beer. There are a number of music fests during the summer. We happened to go to the park during a metal fest and got quite an eyeful in the park as a result. We went another time with no music fest and it was much calmer. Herschend Co. also runs the Dollywood and Silver Dollar City theme parks, but they have good theming, and are nicer overall. Darien has no real theming.

Not exectly what I was expecting. I kept finding myself comparing it to Hershey Park near my home where the park is in pristine order and the rides seemed to be looked over with scrutiny. One the plus side, Darien's lines were extremely short which also meant no crowds to deal with like at Hershey. If I'm in the area again I probably wouldn't come back again.

Absolutely love it there, small line ups for rides a great water park, and a very laid back atmosphere. I try to go at least one a year.

THIS IS FOR THE WEBSITE, NOT THE PARK Every single time I try to go on the website, its a hit and miss whether I can connect (mostly a miss) its very frustrating! it wont connect and gives a code for the reason it wont connect. The IT guy at my place of work says its a bad server on their part - put it's like this every single time - and I go on every year

Went here on an 80 degree Saturday in August - let that set the tone for this review. My family and two others visited this park. We all have small children, ages 2 thru 6. Our first big revelation is that they do NOT allow outside food into the park. Now, they weren't exactly strip searching people, but if you're carrying a large cooler in, you'll definitely be asked to leave it in your car. We were aware of this prior to entering the park and made accommodations. As we entered the park, my wife (who is pregnant) needed a wheelchair and I sought one out. Although the park enters at 10:30 and we got there at 11, the had no more wheelchairs or scooters. If that's a concern, get there right when the park opens up. Darien Lake has a fantastic children's area - a large loop with about 10 different rides. The kids were all over 36" tall, but one was a little iffy. His mom was able to get him a wristband from guest relations that alerted ride runners to this fact. We really appreciated this! Food was very expensive and not very good here. Overall, the cost to quality ratio was extremely low. We didn't bring food with us, but our friends did. They left the park, ate, and came back in. As evening approached, we visited the "Moose on the Loose" ride. This was by FAR, the longest wait on a kids' ride in the park. We waited 30 minutes for a 3 minute ride. This was directly attributable to the fact that full grown adults were riding! Not parents with kids, just adults by themselves riding the ride. It was horrible. We'll definitely return, but having some of this in mind will make for a much better experience!

Darien Lake has a numerous amount of fun rides to go on with family and friends. It's so much fun to run around in the park all day. I would go here with my friends everyday if I could.

Good alternative to Canada's Wonderland for Canadians. Line-ups are not long. Be wary when renting trailers-- they are old and in need of a good cleaning and refreshing. Food is all fried-- healthy alternatives are hard to find (I haven't found them yet).
