Nature's ferocity and beauty captured by Photographers

A couple of photographers in Botswana got to witness first hand an amazing interaction between Lioness and Baboon.

These pictures are truly amazing to see.

An interesting breakdown of how  +Alex Wild  , entomologist and photographer, handles copyright infringement.

Some great examples of letters expressing a range of tones subject to how serious the infringement is.

Google+Blog for WordPress 1.3.4 [Bugfix Release]

Hot on the heels of +Mike Elgan's #blogsofaugust  campaign I have gone ahead and updated the Google+Blog for WordPress plugin.  I originally created this plugin as I saw how great G+ was as a blogging platform but noticed many users were still wanting to keep their own sites populated with their own content.

Google+Blog for WordPress is a plugin that allows you to import your Google+ Public posts (and their comments) as blog posts into your WordPress setup. There is a free version and a paid version ($10), both of which can be found at

Paid users, please update by going to to download. Where 'YourTransactionId' is the number emailed to you.

Update Details

- Fixed issue with shared youtube videos
- Better handling of some vimeo embeds
- Comment dates should now be more accurate
- Remove jQuery dependence

To update please deactivate and delete the existing plugin prior to installing this one.

Keep your suggestions coming as they are what guides the development of this plugin. Also be sure to log any bugs you have found with me. Updates will start to slow down a little now as the plugin becomes more stable but be sure to check my posts for the latest news regarding the plugin.

There is an explanation of each of the settings for the plugin in a prior post that can be found here:

If you think you need a little more help with the plugin +Nancy Messieh  of TheNextWeb wrote up a great post detailing the steps to go through to get things up and running. Check it out here:

If you are experiencing problems with the plugin not working at all, there can be conflicts with other plugins and themes, especially in relation to comments. Message me privately with these issues including the settings you are using as well as any errors you may be receiving and I will do my best to help you get it all up and running.

Thanks for the continued support.

Your reshares are appreciated.

By the way, the link to "Google API Console" on the plugins page leads to a redirection loop. I had to get to the page by, well, Googling.

If Trees Could Talk

Another interesting tree found in the gardens on our walk to shoot the harbour bridge. I'm sure plenty of people have sat beneath it to enjoy the shade that it gives. Luckily the man that was there as we arrived moved so that I was able to capture this shot.

Sails In The Sky

A different perspective of the opera house.  It was being lit up by an outdoor opera event from just across the bay.

When you post with a photo it does not upload the photo to your blog, it merely puts a link to the photo at google and shows the image.  Is there a way to get it to upload the photo to your wordpress blog?  I dont want to rely on my photo always being on google.  I guess you can call me paranoid :)

Google+ Comments Used On A Personal Blog

Google have just rolled out a great feature in the way of integrated comments across the Blogger network. This will enable a greater integration of one's social identity on G+ and that of a general online persona. Google have taken it a step further though, showing all interactions on shares of the blog pages across the G+ network, giving a great view of all activity and discussion involving the posts.

Although the release is limited to Blogger, I have managed to get it up and running on my own self-hosted blog. This is not the intended use (yet), but is surely a peek of what will be available in the future. There is a good chance that this implementation will be shut down so be sure to check it out.

As soon as Google give this a go ahead, if it is requested enough I will investigate writing a WordPress plugin to implement it. Let me know if you would be interested.

Hi Daniel, I downloaded the free plug in to fix the bug with the 'blue dot-top right corner' in Chrome bar. Does it work for Mac? I can't seem to make it work. Or otherwise : how easily, like in all thinks Mac/Apple, add more people to a chosen circle? Thx. Lech

Another Day At The Beach

The weather was a bit touch and go on this afternoon at Bronte beach, but all these people at the beach didn't seem to care. Those clouds would soon bring some showers though.

Who am I?

I am a 30 year old easy going guy with strong interests in software development, photography and the internet.  I am married with two beautiful children, and own a crazy Golden Retriever.

What can you expect of me on Google+?

If you follow me you will most likely see posts relating to interesting tech news found around the internet.  I will also, at times, post on issues I come across in my day to day work as a software developer.

I have also been known to help people around Google+.  This social network has become my home so if there is anything I can do to help you along please let me know.

Why have I followed you?

You are interesting to me.  You may not even fall under the limited interests I have listed above, but I like your style of writing.

Can I help you with something?

I'm not sure, but feel free to message me to ask me any questions.  Time management is a constant struggle for me these days but I will always reply to you eventually.
