Moving content files safely, reliably and securely has always been mission critical to the media industry. And while the transition to digital format has in some ways made moving and sharing content easier, there are still many challenges. File sizes are growing, teams are more dispersed around the globe, and legacy solutions like FTP are unreliable and increasingly problematic.

In this CreativeCow Educational webinar you will learn how the transition from FTP systems to next generation SaaS solutions are not only overcoming these challenges but taking businesses to a new level of productivity and professionalism.

Attendees will learn:

• Why sending large files over distance is so difficult with legacy Internet protocols
• The risks and hidden costs of FTP
• Why today’s B2B solutions are true SaaS, not “cloud washed"
• How SaaS solutions like Media Shuttle are scalable and cost effective to any size business
• The easy to use, brandable and secure web portals of Media Shuttle

Panelist: Rick Clarkson, VP, Signiant
Hosted by Tim Matteson, CreativeCOW

Editor Bryan Capri's shift from editing corporate training videos and independent films to crafting TV movies for SyFy and Lifetime was no accident: hard work and a positive attitude were everything as he found himself cutting films and designing workflows for major networks.

Take a look at what we found out about his post production process.

VFX Supervisor Sue Rowe led the team from Method in creating over 500 shots as the exclusive house on The Maze Runner, an action thriller based on the post-apocalyptic dystopia YA series. Creating the ever-shifting maze itself, as well as foul organic-mechanical hybrid monsters known as Grievers, Sue and her team expanded their expertise beyond atmospheres to include Oscar-winning character animators, taking some imaginative turns through the maze of creating a realistic world.

If you're going to build the storm for a movie called Into The Storm, you better be on top of your game -- especially if it's an unprecedented mile-wide monster of a tornado. Method Studios created the storm and its aftermath, building on the kinds of things you expect from a tornado, to create some things you've not seen before.

An auto-follow, gyro-stabilized GoPro drone that goes where you go, including skydiving and surfing, that you can operate hands-free -- sounds cool, right? It's called AirDog, and whether or not the product is for you, you can learn a lot from their very hot Kickstarter campaign: they reached their $200,000 goal in 4 days, on their way to over $1.3 million pledged.

Editor Zack Arnold (Burn Notice, Black Box, Glee) is the host of the popular Fitness in Post podcast, and recently spoke with Kylee Wall and Siân Fever about work environments for women in post-production. This episode was inspired by a recent article by Kylee Wall on Creative Cow titled Sexism In Post. They talk about why Kylee wrote the article in the first place, lots of different studies about the gender gap in post-production, wage differences for the same jobs, and we even go as far to discuss sexual harassment and other crucial, if sometimes not-so-pleasant topics. You're going to find a lot to think about, and yes, lots to enjoy! We can't wait to hear part 2!

Cinematographer Doc Ajay Johnson recently covered Tuff-N-Uff: The Future Stars of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) 20th Anniversary. The event, which took place at the Thomas and Mack center in Las Vegas, NV, featured six championship contests, as well as the finals of Tuff-N-Uff women’s strawweight tournament. Armed with a Sony F5, Johnson carefully selected the appropriate accompanying gear to capture a full night of action-packed amateur MMA fights.

From his non-linear path to taking risks in the industry and his tender care on SyFy's surprise hit B-movie, there's a lot that can be learned about graciously making it in Hollywood from a guy like Bill Boodell.
When editor William (Bill) Boodell came to LA, he didn't expect to ever be associated with a shark tornado -- I mean, who is? And now Sharknado (the first one), is a part of mainstream pop culture even a year later and his best known work to date. If you talk to Bill for five minutes, you'll discover that he's a film connoisseur with a near-concerning catalog of directors, editors, and filmmaking theory in his head, and an up-and-coming editor wi...

When Peter O'Toole (August 2, 1932 - December 14, 2013) passed away in 2013 at age 81, he still seemed too young to leave us. Between the time he spent on stage (primarily in plays by Shakespeare and Samuel Beckett) and breaks for his poor health, we simply didn't see him in enough movies. Here are five more movies to set the record straight: there was nobody else like Peter O'Toole, and there won't be again.
Peter O'Toole (August 2, 1932 - December 14, 2013) is most remembered for his supernova performance in Lawrence of Arabia, but in fact some of his most highly-regarded, even Oscar-nominated, performances are all but forgotten in the praise of that one. Here are five more movies to set the record straight: there was nobody else like Peter O'Toole, and there won't be again.
