Environmental artist Lucy Holtsnider '11 and hydrologist/climate researcher Zion Klos '09 are about to embark on a year-long art and science collaboration called Climate Odyssey. Starting this June they will spend a year sailing from the great lakes to the Atlantic coast and into the Caribbean, documenting climate change impacts and adaptations.
Lucy will use her experience as an artist to craft photographs and interviews from the journey into visually appealing scientific resources, including an interactive digital map, blog, and edition of artists’ books. Zion’s knowledge of climate science will keep the artistic perspective scientifically accurate and up-to-date with current research. Their complimentary skills in art, science, and communication make them an ideal team to share climate change impacts and adaptations with new audiences.
