We loved seeing +Reunion Tower on the season finale of The Amazing Race this weekend! Contestants had to rappel down from the top while looking for a clue. With those amazing views, I'm not sure how they were able to focus on finding the clue! You can visit Reunion Tower and three other awesome Dallas attractions with our brand new Dallas CityPASS... but sorry, rappelling is not included!

What an exciting day at +Houston Zoo! Today is the opening day for their brand new Gorilla Habitat. The intricately designed space holds two groups of western lowland gorillas (7 in total) who will spend their days alternating between an outdoor habitat filled with lush landscape that mimics an African forest and a multi-tiered night house that includes private bedrooms, an artistic 23-foot-tall climbing tree, and a behind-the-scenes outdoor yard. (Sounds pretty nice!)

All the gorillas have been specifically chosen as part of the Species Survival Plan. Chaka, Mike and Anjari are a group of three bachelors, while Zuri, Holli and their daughter Sufi, along with another gorilla, Binti, make up the family group. (You'll also see some Red River Hogs rooting around in the ravine.)

This new exhibit supports the Zoo's goal of educating the community about the threats faced by all gorillas, as well as the work they do with several organizations in Africa to protect gorillas: Conservation Heritage – Turambe, Gorilla Doctors and GRACE. Congrats on the Zoo to this amazing new exhibit and the work they do to save gorillas!

If this sweet face looks familiar to you, it might be because you saw her live birth on Animal Planet back in early April. Meet baby girl Kipenzi of the +Dallas Zoo. Her name means “loved one,” and it’s very appropriate, as she’s become somewhat of a social media star since her birth. She’s given people around the globe a new appreciation for her majestic and threatened species – and she’s helping to raise $50,000 for wildlife conservation as well. A friend of the Zoo is matching any contributions made in her honor, up to $25,000. All donations will go directly to help rescue and support threatened wildlife in Africa, including giraffes. Kipenzi is a reticulated giraffe, one of only 4,700 who remain.

+Alcatraz Island, located in the San Francisco Bay 1.5 miles offshore from San Francisco, is best known as the location of one of the world's most legendary prisons, and a walk through the cell blocks can definitely give you the chills. But the island has a more extensive history that many are not aware of; it was a primary Union defense post during the Civil War, and the site of a milestone American Indian occupation from 1969-1971.It's also home to beautiful historic gardens, previously enjoyed by guard families and trusted inmates and now open for public viewing. You can add a visit to Alcatraz to your San Francisco CityPASS, but you must purchase your CityPASS directly from +Alcatraz Cruises in order to do this; see cityp.as/2QYMw8 for more details.

Philadelphia's Eastern State Penitentiary is a crumbling yet fascinating piece of history in the midst of the city's hustle and bustle. Dating back to 1829, ESP counts mobster Al Capone and bank robber Willie Sutton among its more notorious prisoners. The institution was a prison reform leader with its Quaker-inspired system of isolation combined with labor and, in its day, became the most famous prison in the world. From the ESP website: "...Each prisoner had his or her own private cell, centrally heated, with running water, a flush toilet, and a skylight. Adjacent to the cell was a private outdoor exercise yard contained by a ten-foot wall. This was in an age when the White House, with its new occupant Andrew Jackson, had no running water and was heated with coal-burning stoves." Wow!

ESP was abandoned as a prison in 1971, but today visitors can explore the crumbling cell blocks, operating room, Al Capone's cell, dining halls, punishment cells, and more. The audio guide and Hands-on History tours take the experience up a notch, making ESP a Philly must-see!
