Transit notice: Effective immediately, Mall and Night Broadway bus routes detouring due to sewer repair work at the intersection of Dodge and Bowery Streets

The Mall and Night Broadway transit routes are currently detouring outbound and inbound due to sewer repair work at the intersection of Dodge and Bowery Streets. The Mall and Night Broadway buses will detour using Gilbert Street to Kirkwood Avenue and will not service Bowery or Dodge Street while the work is ongoing. Normal service is expected to resume on Friday, June 10, 2016. Please see below for stop closure information:

Inbound stops closed: Dodge & Walnut Street (7107); Dodge & Bower Street (7105); Bowery & Johnson Street (7103); Bowery & Van Buren Street (7101); Bowery & Gilbert Street (7100).

Outbound stops closed: Bowery & Johnson Street (7102); Bowery & Dodge Street (7104); Dodge & Walnut Street (7106).

Via the Iowa City Police Department: 6/8/16, Drivers and the general public should avoid the intersection of First Ave. and Bradford Dr. due to a gas line break.

Hydrant flushing notice updated - 6/6/2016

Iowa City Water Distribution will be flushing hydrants in the Silvercrest Way, Arlington Dr., Cumberland Ln., Barrington Rd., Kennedy Parkway, Butternut Ln., Crabapple Ct., Camp Cardinal Rd., Meadowlark Dr., Robin Rd. areas.

Hydrants are flushed to remove sediment and clean water distribution pipes. Rust from iron pipes may be released as part of the process, which may cause some temporary tap water discoloration. If this happens, let the water run until it clears

Flushing takes place between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the spring and fall, so when hydrant flushing is taking place it is best to wash laundry in the evenings and weekends.

Transit service update: Lakeside bus route has resumed service to Bon Aire

Effective immediately, the Lakeside bus route has resumed normal service to Bon Aire Mobile Home Lodge. Bus stops #7050, #7700 and #7051 have returned to service. For more information, please call the Transportation and Resource Management Department at 319-356-5151 or visit www.icgov.org/transit

City of Iowa City Revenue Division will close early on June 10

The Iowa City Revenue Division at City Hall, 410 E. Washington St., will close at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016, for maintenance on the department’s billing system. Customers will not be able to make payments for utility or landfill bills, purchase yard waste bags or stickers, or conduct other business transactions in the office, online or by phone during the system maintenance.

This will also temporarily impact the Human Resources Office, as the job posting and online application system will not be accessible, but their office will remain open.

Parking tickets may be paid online at http://bit.ly/1UBiQcn and at the Parking Office located at 335 Iowa Avenue.

All operations are expected to be back to normal at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 13.

Road Construction - Rochester Avenue

Weather permitting, beginning Tuesday, June 7, 2016, lanes of traffic will be shifted on Rochester Ave, in the area near N Seventh Ave. This will include the temporary elimination of the middle left turn lane. This work is necessary to facilitate water main and pavement repair in the area. It is anticipated work will be completed and normal traffic will resume on Friday, June 10.

Motorists should take note of this construction and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. Caution should be exercised when traveling through all construction areas.

Road Construction - Market Street

Weather permitting, beginning Monday, June 6, 2016, Market Street, between Linn and Gilbert Streets, will be reduced to one lane of traffic. This restriction is necessary to facilitate the resurfacing of the Market Street Parking Lot. The work should be completed and Market Street should reopen to two lanes of traffic on Tuesday, June 7.

Motorists should take note of this construction and allow for extra travel time as delays may occur. Caution should be exercised when traveling in all construction areas.

Deadline for public input on Iowa City Manager search is Friday, June 10, 2016

The City Council appointed Assistant City Manager Geoff Fruin as Interim City Manager effective March 19, 2016. TheCouncil hopes to have a meeting by the end of June to make a decision on whether to appoint Geoff Fruin as City Manager or do a national search seeking applications from all qualified persons, including Interim City Manager Fruin should he choose to apply.

Road Construction - Ridge Road, Whiting Avenue and Kimball Road

Beginning today, Wednesday, June 1, 2016, Ridge Road, Whiting Avenue, and Kimball Road will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic for short periods at various locations and at different times of the day. These lane reductions are necessary to facilitate asphalt pavement repair on these roadways. The repair process requires a slow moving operation so lane closures of short duration and length are anticipated as the operation moves down the roadway. The work will be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday, June 8.

Motorists should take note of this construction and allow extra travel time as delays may be possible. Caution should be exercised when traveling through all construction areas.

The following Downtown streets will close and remain closed until approximately midnight @ the conclusion of the festival on Sunday:
