I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally get to one of these screenings and I'm kicking myself for all those years of missed opportunities, lol. But better late than never! My friends and I finally got our asses in gear and checked out the "Rear Window" screening a few weeks ago and fell in love. We just went again to catch "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and it was an awesome retro hoot! I love everything about these screenings: the picknicking, the weather, the gorgeous grounds, the people watching, the photo booth, and yes, even the movie itself! Since the cemetary is private property, you are allowed to bring in and consume all the alcoholic beverages you and (your liver) can handle. The Cinespia people have been doing this for years and it shows--it's a very well-organized event: There are plenty of porta-potties; the chair people are separated from the non-chair people; and they even mark off "aisles" so it makes it easier for people to move around in the huge crowd. You should definitely get your tickets ahead of time (they have some tickets for sale the day of but it's not guaranteed so don't take the chance) and get to the cemetary EARLY so you can find easy free parking and start pre-picknicking while waiting in line. I can't recommend these events highly enough; it's definitely one of the best LA experiences!
