This is a preview to a coming tutorial series about the workflow between Cinema 4D, 3D-Coat and the PBR workflow for rendering. It will show the capabilities of 3D-Coat for UV-Unwrapping and working with PBR SmartMaterials to help iterate fast in the material development stage. Then we will bring the textures over to Cinema 4D and render them with the help of Corona for Cinema 4D and Cycles 4D.

In this preview, Helge shows briefly the new Corona Node-Editor and how to connect the PBR textures from 3D-Coat inside a node-tree to render them correctly. For this, he builds a dialectic and a conductor node-branch and mixes them with the help of a metallic maps as material layers. Also, he explains the difference between sRGB and linear profiles in the Bitmap node.

I hope, I can publish the first full tutorials soon.

In this tutorial 3D- & VFX Trainer Helge Maus shows the workflow of bringing Terrain Data from sidefx Houdini to UNITY 3D. Starting with the explanation of the concept of the terrain object inside of UNITY 3D, the ways the native sculpting tools and the texturing using splatmaps work, he then builds a simple Heightfield based terrain inside Houdini 16.5. Through the various nodes the Heightfield system of Houdini offers, shaping of the natural environment is really easy and fully procedural. A short introduction of Heightfields Noise, Distortions, Erode and Heightfield Quickshade is given. After that, Helge shows you how to output the heightdata to a file with the important settings you need, convert it to a raw file and reads it into the Unity terrain object.
