What does it take to compete at the highest level? Determination. Skill. Focus. The right equipment. But most importantly, funding and support. Thanks to CAF — and you — 45 percent of the U.S. Team at the Vancouver Winter Paralympics and 32 percent of the U.S. Team at the London Summer Games were able to showcase their ability on the world's stage and serve as role models for the next generation. Sochi is coming. Who will be next in line to go for Gold? ‪#‎20YearsofChange‬

Twenty years ago, the term “challenged athlete” did not exist. Physical disabilities and those who had them were often greeted with discomfort, low expectations and outright pity. In 1997, nine year old Rudy Garcia-Tolson made his first appearance at the San Diego Triathlon Challenge and showed the world a new possibility — that children without legs can participate in sports using prosthetics and truly have no limits. #20YearsofChange

Twenty years ago, an effort to help one man launched a global change in the way athletes with disabilities are perceived — and perceive themselves. Jim MacLaren may no longer be with us, but his legacy lives on through CAF. From one, came many.

Join us in celebrating CAF’s 20th Anniversary by recognizing the way CAF has changed the world. Each week we will share how, with your support, CAF has changed lives, perceptions, attitudes, opportunities, outcomes and ultimately…the WORLD. Learn more at www.20YearsofCAF.org.
