Don’t take it from us. Take it from the Cakewalk forum:

“Guys, I have been giving the tempo tools in Melodyne 4 Studio a workout. I have to say, Melodyne’s tempo manipulation is INSANE!!!! …

“Melodyne can detect the tempo (and does so better than anything I have ever seen before). …

“Where Melodyne really shines is with audio without apparent transients. It understands the notes and melodies and can detect tempo from that. All other products I’ve seen rely on transients and do very poorly when there are not significant transients to detect. From my experience so far, the tempo detection and manipulation is bordering on miraculous.”

Thanks, Bill! :)

Hey +KOISANX, the tempo detection in “Cubendo” is most likely based on transients. But does it also work with music that doesn’t have any apparent transients, e.g. legato notes from a string ensemble? Regarding your second comment: Yes, you can export Melodyne’s tempo data to your DAW of choice.

Melodyne 4 comes with more playback algorithms to better suit your audio material. But how do they compare? We’re glad you asked. :)

Yes I did. The discussion does not really tell one, using an example, if a melody line sounds better in (old) or (new).
I can appreciate that more options are available, but for traditional use the original algorithms were already impressive.

Did you know that Karlheinz Stockhausen’s son Simon is also a composer and sound designer? Here, he is experimenting with the Sound Editor in #Melodyne4.

With all these hot new features in Melodyne 4, it is sometimes easy to forget that it’s also pretty decent at pitch correction. ;) Here’s a quick reminder for you.

Naturally enough, Melodyne 4 also supports ARA Audio Random Access, our plug-in technology for enhanced host integration. See how ARA will boost your workflow with DAWs like Studio One.
